i've actually never remembered to reset my speedo before a race (alley cat courier races) but i'd estimate the average speed is a pathetic 30kph, top speeds around 50 - 60kph.

all the cool kids are riding fixed wheel track bikes these days, i'm too addicted to brakes and gears for that kinda crap!

for lights i just have blinky led lights front and rear, but if i need some serious candlepower i made a helmet mounted light out of a cygo lite i found on a trail once. it's a 6v halogen spot and i just power it with 2 x 7.2v stick packs wired in parallel which sit in my bag. i prefer helmet mounted lights as you can point it where you need it, not where the handlebars are pointing.
But at 1lb i doubt it's anything comfy to have on the headshell. I've asked around a bit and came to the conclusion that it's bright enough with a wide enough beam to see about everything 100-200ft all around. It's more of a decision for cost effectiveness than the coolness factor.

So betty, what's your max/avg when you race?

bike riding???

Does anyone ride just for a hobby kinda thing?
I bought a 2008 trek 4300 about 6 weeks ago and have about ~300 miles on it so far. My avg cruise speed is somewhere around 21mph onroad which came up from 18mph 4 weeks ago. I've been working on speed trials / endurance rides on alternating days.. So far my top speed is 32.6mph on flat ground/no wind and i can hold 21mph avg over about an hour (which is all i care to ride in one shot), gotta keep in mind this is a mtn bike with soft compound meaty dirt tires.

I'm looking into this light because I would like to hit some trails at night and it seems to be the best deal as far as brightness/durability goes.

the shocks are just the upgraded oil ae shocks for the rc18t,, nothing special. any of the rc18t shocks will give you the correct height for a rally car.

I started out 18th scale on the Pro-Pulse, but I changed over to the 18T & R. I drive my small electrics to the point of destruction, and I kept running into trying to adapt 18T parts to the PP for the things that aren't direct swap. Specifically bumpers. Lots of bumper breakage, or chassis breakage around where a bumper didn't give.

In terms of durability, the PP seems fine. The only things I've broken were the result of doing stupid things with brushless motors, ramps, and curbs.

There are pieces of the PP that I like better, though - The way the top deck and body mounts are built and the steering design and saver. I took the PP saver and put it on one 18T that simply refused to steer correctly even with the drag link, and it solved the problem.

I put the PP back to stock, and its future will be jumping the railing on my back deck. There's a three-story drop on the other side of that railing...

I actually did some thinking, I decided against getting a bike. Any extra money I have right now needs to go towards the monte. It actually needs things like suspension, brakes, engine, and body work. I'll just stick with dirt bikes for right now.

So, I'm still going to trade off and sell some things.

This is now a list of things I'm interested in trading for.

Looking for axles! Need tlt, wheelyking, or AX-10. Also looking for a trans, beadlocks, tires. Crawler parts or you might have some parts to a SBC or G-body that I might want.

I'd also be interested in any crawlers for a trade.

Shaun, Motorcycles are great...every young guy should have one. That said, be carefull. I'm looking at some back surgery soon and a big part of the problems I'm having now is because I didn't respect the machine (the one that got me was a Honda CB1100F a bunch of years back). Just watch for anyone in a glass and steel cage (car/truck) and remember the biggest killer of young guys on bikes is too much confidence and way too fast of a machine. Even that 250 is going to be fast, faster than your car anyway. So use your head, ride with friends whenever you can and you'll have the time of your life.

Oh yeah. WEAR A HELMUT! I've lost too many frinds over the years because they wanted to look cool. Nobody looks cool in a casket.
