It looks like the stuff you stick things to walls with. ...Man, that was a horrible sentence for someone with a degree in English.

Well go figure, after all that effort just to find one that works decent, someone gave a Hornet to my kid for his birthday. Of coarse having grown up around the little cars he's just like "whatever" so I had to take it out of the package and see how it performed. His works great! It's got enough steering and power to break the rear end free and pitch it around. That's not fair!

Next time he acts up you could "punish" him by taking away his Q-Steer.

Good idea...keep it safe for him. I'll bet he'd even like a lipo and some fets while it's sitting there.

Id say they are clones but it's for the better. I had purchased a Tamiya buggy and then when I saw these at TRU I picked up another and the TRU version is much better. :-)
There are several models available. It has an on/off switch (tamiya does not), the throttle and steering is more responsive and the darn thing is quicker by a noticeable amount. they both have channel selectors on the remotes as well as turbo button and the channels are identical so I can use either remote with either car as long as the correct channel is selected.

CJ: you sure it wasnt this one? Image car charges on the controller and it's white with blue buttons instead of blue with white buttons but its close lol.

just a heads up :-)

STG
Um. I'd hate to diagree with you, normally. But that's not quite right.

Bottom of the car - "Q-steer copyright Tomy made in China"
front & back of the controller- same as above
in the printed material, and on the box are statements that these are "Manufactured under liscence from Tamiya" and Tomy etc.

I am not saying they are not different than the earlier versions, but these seem as legit as the Microsizers were to the Tomy Bits. :???:

Oh, and I just had to pick one up at the nearest TRU..........Okay two..... I got the Hotshot and the Boomerang.
They had 4 of the 5 there - the Frog was missing.
The front steering and suspension is wierd, and looser than I expected.........
but pretty damn cool little bugger :-)

15 bones, I'd say get at least one, if anything but to show some support for the micro hobby.
I'll be getting the other two for the kids........ um yeah that's it. For the kids.
hey i bought the hotshot and boomerang too

Why can't I find cars #3 and 6 anywhere? Are they doing a weird release, or am I just getting beat to them after a restock at every store I try? No matter what store I hit, I can't find them!

#1 Hotshot
#2 Avante
#3 (blue 2wd style, spoiler might say "Fox ___")
#4 Boomerang
#5 Hornet
#6 (white 2wd style, spoiler might say Grass hopper)

I've got boomerangs, hotshots, hornets, and finally tracked down an avante; but I want the whole set!

EDIT: Whine on a messageboard works! I found them both this weekend!!!

I was able to find the "fox mini" and the grasshopper. I went to Toys'R'Us and they had a shelf about 5 boxes wide by maybe 4 deep. Then, I went to where they normally have RC's on one of the isles and they had maybe 10 of them there and there was the foxtail mini, grasshopper, hornet, hotshot, and avante. I didn't care for the avante as it has the wide front wheels and I had a bad exerience with those. I did get the fox and I like it a lot. The wheels aren't actually a metallic gold like it shows in the picture, but they are gold colored. It has a narrower body than the hornet, and it has this funky little black can on the rear trailing arm. I'll try and nab a picture of the elusive Fox Mini for you all.

UPDATE:

As promised, here are the photos. If you look at the second one you can see the odd little black can on the rear. I also love the tamiya sticker on the side of the spoiler and the name on the roof.

I'm still going to find a way to work out the terrible slop in the front tires on both of them. I'm thinking maybe trying to pull out the pin with needle nose pliers and then grind it so it fits more snugly. If anyone has already done this or knows of another way, let me know!
