Xmods invade Japan

Post by cj »

From the company that bought us the HPI Savage Monster trunk we get the Xmods?

I could use a human translator. Looks like we now know who makes the Xmods for RadioShack.

Damn, I can't believe HPI is involved with the Xmods.

It's almost surreal to me.

I'm confused as to why HPI is the Japan distributer, I thought HPI was an American based company. I remember when they just made pan cars, and a few accessories.

I also wonder if the HPI name will give Xmods a better reputation in foreign markets.

Well now I'm expecting more from RS.

I still can't. I just don't see the maker of the micro RS4, and the line of Savage MTs putting their name on it. I just don't see it.

I know! I didn't see it either. I expected one of the lower end companys making them not HPI.

Best case scenario:

If these sell as well in the Japanese market as they have over here, maybe HPI will back them with some high quality upgrades, and those will make their way to the American market, and the potential of this design will finally be reached.

Worst case scenario:

After the initial excitement wears off and everybody has all of the Shaq upgrades, the scene that pops up around these will go stagnant and people will lose interest, as it appears to have happened here.

Word to Bird.

Let's hope for the best case, since I already have an Xmod, might as well make it useful.

RCs have always been big in Japan. It's already a competitive market, but if the pick up on it, hop ups should start appearing.

HPI is Hobby Products International... makers of some of the finest hobby class rc cars money can buy... Just the thought of them having a hand in the future of the x mod makes me all tingly...

Check out some of their stuff... They have some really nice stuff lol.

So HPI might be able to make some better parts for Xmods, Radio Shack needs to make some bodies for Xmods because everybody is starting to have the same stuff, maybe HPI will make aftermarket bodies, that would be cool.

They make a 1:18 scale belt driven 4 wheel drive tuner called a Micro RS4.

I guess I'm just being hard headed about this, but I still don't believe HPI would release a car exclusivly to RS. Big waste of money.

People would be all over em if they had em in LHS, and had HPI on the box.

It'd be like having the best "filet mignot" , and giving em to Oscar Meyer to market. Or Harmen Karden puttin RS name on their new stereo.

HPI is just as bad ass as Kyosho, or Losi, or Traxxas, so why not compete with those minis?

Sounds like something fishy is goin on here. :???:

if hpi is selling xmods that are made by radioshack then,... who really made the RS4? :???: ... hhaahah j/p

no but this is awsome.... cuz if the xmods hit japan's crazy r/c crave, then the china ppl will start to make after market parts..think about it...aluminum wheels, carbon chassis, heatsinks motor, bodies....
i think hpi is gonna do us alota good

HPI has created a new site for these guys and it links back to the official RadioShack site.
http://www.hpiracing.co.jp/xmods/

Starter kits are low cost just 7,800 Yen about $72 USD.
