Bit Boat

Post by Finks »

All right, to answer SG's question and mostly because I suck at deadlines, Here is the up to date progression of my Bit Boat.

So first for insperation. After my inlaws won the Dutch lotery last Summer they did what all newly loaded people would do, buy a boat.
Image

Well once we started getting ideas for what the next Summer competition would be and Sg suggested convertables and boats, I started planning. Problem was, lack in funds ment I had to wait till Fatherdays to get my NKOK boat. Well the fated day came, I drove it for the afternoon and had a blast. When the sun went down tho, it was time to rip her up.

Image

After that I used the best thing I have ever bought from Radio Shack, a Zip Zap box to fabricate the deck and cabin along with credit card material. Tape was applied to hold her together for the epoxy session.

Image

Used wicked (yeah I am from Maine) thin lines of epoxy.

Image

And some Polish goodness to hold the deck tight.

Image

Here she is all put together.

Image

Here is where it starts to get crazy. Used a small hand drill tool and used cut needles to make the guard rail and then stupidly used thread, where I should have used fishing line. As you can see in the next picture all the little fibers cake up the paint pretty well. I hope I can just trim it down. Used some Toothpicks for the antena mast. Also after 2 coats of primer, the friggin Red still makes the haul a pink tint. This problem is what has taken me 3 days to fix and has made me miss the Swig Bling dead line. Oh yeah the windows are taped off.

Image

So there you have it, I decided I am confident in my other entries to not rush this job and just make it kick ass. Sucks but hell it's always been a trend in my life 8-)

Nice, I'm always a fan of creative Zip Zap packaging uses.

I'm wondering if the extra weight on top will effect the boat balance. :???:
...crazy man, crazy...dig it.

Nice!

Gonna put a nice pair of King Max or 4.2 (or whatever the current high RPM motor out there is) in that badboy?

I bought a pair of boats for my little Bro a long time ago, with whatever motors they're using stock it's an okay experience...I can just imagine putting some crazy fast motors in there and then the fun REALLY starts.

dude, the cut needles thing - awesome idea.
that's great man - I don't even mind the thread being a little caked.
makes it look like tied off rope or something.

very cool.

Naw she is actually lighter. I used the plastic from the top bubble on the zip zap packaging because I really want to drive this sucker in my pond this summer. Unlike the stock NIKO boat the back end doesn't sit at water level now, causing less drag. As for ballance I sweated my balls off making sure she doesn't tilt one way or another. Allready tested the boat so unless the paint does some freaky shit, it should be all good. I'll post pics of her in the water when I am done.

Either way thanks for the props fellas

:edit: smart ass comment was too smart ass, fixed it for respect and shit.

Well now that I am not bustin ass for the Swing Bling this sucker is going slowly. Repainted the whole boat so now there is no pink hull. Re-ran the guard rail with fishing line for a clean look. Peeled off the masking and what do ya know, paint found it's way inside.... mother fucker! Ahh well, will clean taht up tonight.

sometimes a nice slow pace it what works best. I'm like that alot of times.
can't rush beauty and perfection.
I say take the time, do it like you want it.
it's already turning out to be a gem, can't wait to see what it looks like in the end.
