Motor Home RV Bit Custom

Post by steelwoolghandi »

I had this idea while looking at my RC Simi Truck and I thought what a cool chasse for a Motor Home so I said what the heck and drew one out!

I had plenty of polystyrene so I drew the RV then transferred it over to the polystyrene. Then I measured everything and cut out the roof that piece made the front back and roof all out of one piece no cutting.
I cut out the windows and door and added trim using Evergreen styrene then I used Tamiya putty and finished out the bad spots. I have it almost ready to be primed. After primer I will fix any of the bad spots and then add the rest of the detail.

I even plan to have an awning that rolls out from the side mirrors, windows and even air-conditioning units at the top. And it will not be just for show but a working RC!

now I have built the canopy mechanism it actually works once the canopy is put on it will roll out and stop at a point over the door and window on the side. I added a ladder and inset headlights and have the air conditioners on the top just need to sand a little more and its ready for the primer!

Thats just too cool. 8-)

I've never worked with styrene before. I guess it bends safely, like on the front and rear roof ends?

It's just absolutely freaking amazing.
I don't even know where to begin and where to stop, so I won't.
Dude, that's hall of fame shit right there.

Thanks guys the comments mean a lot coming from real masters of the 1/64 scale bits! Ever since I have been posting on here I have been blown away by the bits ya’ll have produced and its inspired me to really get back to work on my bits! I thank you guys for the inspiration!

On and SG the styrene bends pretty well and it sets real fast with just model glue.

Humm now off to add some mirrors and a few other little details!

That ride is amazing for so many damn reasons. I am a huge fan of stock built 1/64 and that sucker oddly enough reminds me tons of my boat. SWG you put out some killer work, no doubt about it, but that mother of a truck just upped the standards for us all. So you are saying that she still isn't finished?? Wow, how much more detail can you cram into this Summer Family mobile. RotW??? fuck that, Ride of the month!

Wow man, that's a truly original piece-o-work. It's all been said already and I agree with all of it. Great execution of a great idea... any chance you can post some video?

Fantastic work dude, one comment though...that babies got one hell of a rear overhang..don't fancy taking that over some european mountain pass..one for US highways only me thinks.

Saw a US RV trying to go down a Norwegian mountain pass last year..boy you should have seen the sparks coming off the rear of it when it was negociating hairpins (not to mention the ripped up tarmac!!)

Nice to see you have a rear ladder. When I was a young 'un my Mum would kid me that campers of that size had swimming pools on the top & that's what the ladder was for. I was most dissapointed when I found out otherwise.

I recon all you need to finish it off is a couple of OAP's(old age pensioners, I don't know if you use this phrase in the US) in the front seats & mess up the steering so it weaves all over the road at a moments notice & it will be accurate in every way.

Keep pushing the limits dude
