Video: Dust Devil (Iwaver 04 romp)
Well, here we go, the video I've been saying I was trying to get together.
I know this has been stated before, but just so I'm not asked again, the setup is, Iwaver X-speed motor, Iwaver Bearings, GPM alloy shock towers.
Enjoy!

Dear Life Cereal, Where do you get off? Part of a balanced breakfast and delicious? Who do you think you are? By now you may have guessed I'm speaking ironically and have nothing but good things to say about what you do. Life cereal do not change a thing.

Yeah, it is pretty zippy. I was running about 1/2-3/4 throttle through most of that. Full throttle would just send me into donuts. The Iwaver X-speed motor is actually a pretty hot motor. From what I read, it'll fry stock Kyosho FETs. It get things pretty toasty in the Iwaver too.
It's taking a pretty good beating, but really, I don't want to break it. The suspension is soaking up quite a bit, and it's actually taking the obstacles fairly smooth in real life. The real beating I gave it was lauching it out the door. I heard it slap hard on the door framew everytime. I wont be doing that anymore, that was just for you guys.
It is developing some slop in the suspension though. I gonna go over it with some titanium balls, and some good quality nylon ball cups.
Thanks guys, I'm really happy with the quality of this vid. I think it's my best yet, but I'm still trying to get Premiere worked out.
Hey cabo, how do you make the background transparent in the title screens? I got fed up with that, and just edited frame by frame in Photoshop, to make my title shots.

I don't have Premiere in front me right now, but if I remember right...crazydave wrote:Hey cabo, how do you make the background transparent in the title screens? I got fed up with that, and just edited frame by frame in Photoshop, to make my title shots.
In the "media" window (probably top left screen named "bin"), click the icon to add a new object. (looks like a file icon).
Once you click that, it'll ask you want type you want to add - you want to "title" I believe. You'll then be presented with another new window where you will type your text, choose text color and background color (or make it transparent) and then click close to save it in your media window.
Then just drag and drop it on the timeline like your clips.

Yeah, you're right Hue, sorry, forgot to give my wife credit.hue35 wrote:Man, that was fun. That's a great vid, crazydave... She missed one of my first shots when the wheel flew off. I thought oh well, makes good vid, and she missed it all. So we coordinated ourselves more after that, and I think she did do really good. She found the zoom, I forgot we have a optical zoom (as opposed to digital) and can get away with using that.
@Cabo, thanks man, that's what I was afraid of, I did everything correct. Now I gotta figure out what I'm doing.

I'm going, File>New>Title. make the title, I click the show video button, it shows the video behind the text. I save, it's in my project window, I drag and drop into my timeline, and got a black background and covers the video below. Maybe instead of just saving, i need to try "save as", and see if I get options.

@Talldude, that's odd, I was under the impression that Kyosho's parts were so superior to Iwavers. Must be some hype going on somewhere.

You can apply color, transparency, gradient color, and gradient transparency to type, graphic objects, or shadows. You can also use the eyedropper tool to match a color that already exists in the Title window, even if it is in a background frame you imported.
Use the "Help" menu in Premiere and go to "Creating Titles > Using color, transparency, and gradients"

Crazy D. Thanks for the great video I have been kicking around getting a monster truck and that right there might have done it for me!!
that is one quick little beast and at not even full power and it was still kicking up dirt like that! Hey also Kudos on the great driving I probably would have turned it over about 20 times and hit the tree or stumps between that!
question is it top heavy at all or is the weight even on it??

Thanks, SWG. No it's not top heavy at all. In fact, I like to call it axle heavy, because there is so much unsuspended weight in the servo up front, and motor and gear box in the rear, but it handles good despite that. The design is very similar to the four link rear end of old Losi JRXTs. Which Gil Losi Sr. claims he still sees people running occasionally, and he says they hook better than modern trucks, they just required too much maintenance. The body is thin polycarbonate and basically sit on top of the chassis.
