preliminary tests show.. IT CAN FIT. fully Propo zzmt
I'm just having way too much fun on my day off today. So
many projects so little time.
novak spy esc, uncased and fit into gutted truckbed.
GWS R4PIIH + 75mhz um1 crystal
JR sm15 sub micro servo
kokam 145 lipo
So far ive got it all to fit in the body of the truck. That means I could
just swap this onto my articulated zzmt with minimal effort or drop it on a slightly modified stock zzmt chassis.
a single lipo runs this combo with the zzmt motors flawlessly.
wires will be cut short, receiver pins shortened and servo partially
uncased.
was going to use a micro joule 5amp esc.. but that doesnt have reverse.
the fully reversible spy is a better choice.

Actually, you're thinking the opposite of what I was thinking. I'm thinking, I wish I had the cash to do something like that.Tuner1989 wrote:CoughyourcrazyCough lol, if anyone can pull it off it'll be you man good luck!
And we know you dont have a job so you dont have to pretend! Theres no other way you could get all this stuff done.

Went out and bought a fresh zzmt to work out the steering setup.
Uncased, the jr15 servo uses up no more space than the stock servo assembly. The gears wont fall off, so the front plate is not necessary.
Cut a nice hole for the servo to slide right in.
Fits perfectly in the frame and when mounted, will stiffen
the front end back up.
pic without bottom support.
steering horn(made from the original steering motor mount.)
*
Video of the servo in action. I set the dual rate to 55%, that gave the
knuckles full travel, without hitting the driveshaft.
http://www.v6power.net/clint/mwhq.net/zzmt/servo.wmv
(ignore the background voices, it's just my friend blabbing about something random)
BTW. I tested the zzmt motors with 2s lipo 7.4v and they held up fine.
i'm sure i can squeeze in the second lipo somewhere.

I'm impressed. Stupid question: does the use of the parts you put in there mean you can ditch the ZZ pcb altogether? I'm not an R/C genius, but I take it if you have the GWS rx, an esc, a servo and a battery you have everything you need. What's the advantage of using those parts vs. an iWaver or mini-z pcb?
Your (and LBRC's) recent ZZMT work has inspired me to get working on mine. I've only been doing appearance mods for the last year, but the MT is fertile ground for new stuff I haven't tried yet.

Ditto i just started hacking mine up last night for some articulation.SuperFly wrote:I'm impressed. Yes the use of the parts in there means he can ditch the pcb. Im not sure of the advantages of using the electronics he is using though But it is pretty darn cool!
Size maybe? Price? I know its hard to find iw boards these days.

I already had the servo and the esc, just needed the RX. so 30 bucks for a micro UM1 crystal and GWS pico was more cost effective than buying an iwaver or mini-z board and having to also purchase an AM TX. my cars are all 75Mhz FM.SuperFly wrote:I'm impressed. it all fits(including the shell) and runs great.
here are some pics. will get some video later of course.
bottom of car, can see servo horn and receiver.
side shot.
steering arm
another shot.
all thats left is to clean up the wiring a little, make some plastic tie downs
instead of tape and slap a body on it.

short vid with the green motor.
http://www.v6power.net/clint/mwhq.net/z ... pozzmt.wmv
runtime on the little 145mah is at least 30 minutes or more. ive been
playing with it all morning and no signs of slowing down. I think it is alot
more efficient than the stock zzmt electronics.
project for this weekend will be to put in a nice low gear ratio for climbing,
faster motor and articulation. and maybe a second lipo.
