55 Alive 3 with a litt'l help from my friends
I am supprised no one has worked on this body yet then I started workin on it and now know why!
this is not any easy project I am taking the tow mater body and making a 55 chevy Truck out of it. It will be hot rod style trucking.
The hood you see in the pictures took 2 days to build its in 3 parts. I cut the hood off the black car to use and had to cut it in several pieces. I then added styrene as a base then put the hood over the top of it, lastly the putty.
the back fenders are coming off the Skyline in the picture. I am also going to chop the top as the top I think is to tall a chop will give it a tougher stance.
ok here are a few Work in Progress pics........

Any Suggestions are vary welcome!

Re: 55 Alive
looks good so far. I've been working on that body too, but for the year end blow out. I just don't think I'll have enough time to finish it.steelwoolghandi wrote:I am supprised no one has worked on this body yet then I started workin on it and now know why!

Re: 55 Alive
Personally, I think that's key right there.steelwoolghandi wrote:I am also going to chop the top as the top I think is to tall a chop will give it a tougher stance.
You gotta chop the top of the cab about in half.
I'm too lazy/busy to look for a photo right now, but you know those old school hot rods with chopped tops where the cab space looks to about half it's normal size. All sleek and covert lookin...
That's the shit. And I think that'll be key to conveying the tubbed out hot rod truck look.
Dear Life Cereal, Where do you get off? Part of a balanced breakfast and delicious? Who do you think you are? By now you may have guessed I'm speaking ironically and have nothing but good things to say about what you do. Life cereal do not change a thing.

Here ya go DT maybe this will help a bit. I am trying to make a real 55 Hot Rod Chevy Truck out of this thing.
more WIP

these pictures are after I chopped the top I think it has a better stance with the top lower. the fenders were sanded down these are the ones I got from the skyline. the hood now has more shape to it and the grill is installed ready for detail.
Now I have to figure out how to get the Chevy name on the tailgate?

I know what you mean Cavey! I do that all the timecrazydave wrote:Now I'm mad at you SWG. I was gonna make a '55 Chevy.
Oh well my fault for not getting off my ass.

Damn SWG! That is coming along GREAT !!

I see where you're going now. Personally I would try to get it as close to
original as possible, then hook a serious custom paint scheme to it.
If you want to take it to the next level, lemme see what I can come up with...

Ok got the parts together and put a shot coat of primer on it so I can tell where I have to touch up the putty. getting the back fenders to line up with the front body lines was a pain shear pain!
the tailgate is getting there, I wanted to put the chevy logo on it but I am just to lazy to cut out all those letters and try to get them to fit. so I want to easy route and cut the Chevy emblem out and did it that way.
I lowered the body so it will sit right on the wheels I think it gives it that tough stance.
DT give as much advice as you can give!!!
now for the updated pics!

Looking good, I like the grill.

I have decided that on mine I should have puttied/sanded/primed the fenders a bit more before glueing them to the bed
