ZZ SE question

Post by yakboy »

Just got a full set of ZZ SE's from PDQ mods and have a question about the motor and heatsink on the 2 James bond aston's I,ve got.

The motor has a square end cap and the heat sink has an extra piece of metal soldered on that means it doesn't locate properly and the motor comes loose. Am I missing something here and being a bit thick? (wouldn't be suprised  ) but haven't had any experience of Zip Zaps before as I am UK based.

First impressions are good though, I'm loving the proportionality compared to bits

That piece of metal makes it difficult, but make sure the heatsink is hooking on the bar that that the idler spins on.

Hate those new style motors, I wish I knew why RS went that way. :???:

Why has it got that piece of metal on ? Can't I just lop it off, it doesn't seem to perform any function or does it dissipate heat to the chassis ?

it seems like it just provides tension so the heatsink is not falling out once unscreewed :?
the only explanation i could come up with :???:
as for the motor ... someone at RS thought it would be sure and easy fit :?:, totaly useless feature.
fell free to correct me if I'm wrong

I think its to help carry current, Notice the newer motors have a little tab that makes contact with the heatsink. That piece of metal from the heatsink then makes contact with the piece of metal that runs under the motor.
