Thanks guys, its comming along pretty well.

I made a dumb mistake when I replaced the board that I fried. I broke the mount that that held down the board and allowed me to hold the steering motor in place. When I snaped it (it was one of the few plastic parts) I realized that it would have snapped from the steering motors torque sooner or latter anyway. So I'm tring to figgure out another paper thin clip/motor mount that won't snap. I tried wraping the board with electrical tape and then glueing the motor to it. It's actualy working better (smoother) than before but I have to see if I can come up with something elses just because this set up bugs me. I can't afford any extra thickness in the chassis...it so tight a fit now that it almost doesn't need anythng to hold the body in place.

So now I'm hoping it will be finished for the contest...but if not bit number two is almost done...Oh yeah by the way this wasn't the car I had intended for the contest originaly. So I'll have one or maybe two entries withing the next week, I hope.

OK, were getting there. These are the worst shots yet but considering they were done with a Finding Nemo camera swiped from my buddy Dave's kid they're not so bad. I gotta get a new camera after Christmas...

Anyway the chassis is done. it runs well but sits so low in the front that the ground/table has to be very smooth. The Jada wheels/tires don't have much grip but they look good so I think I'll keep them. Here's a composit of the chasssis.

The only real problem that hadn't anticipated was with most of the antena under the body the aluminum really cuts the range. I have a soulution but it will have to wait for further development maybe after New Years. I'm thinking of talking to one of my friends who's into electronics and seesng if he can boost the signal from the TX. If you work for the fcc that's just a joke officer, I would never think of violating fcc regulations :innocent: and finally here's a composit of the final test fitting of the body.

it still needs some finish work but it's getting closer.

Looking really good man! That is definitely the most bad ass bit chassis ever.

You have no idea how many times ths thing almost got melted down or chucked out of a window...so, if I ever do decide to get rid of it, its your's. Just don't hold your breath until then.

Thanks Shaun.

If you decided to throw it, you're closer my house. I'm sure I could find a can of turd polish for it...

I really wish you had a better camera! Looks great! I'm kinda suprised it wasn't on Torq-Thrust or Hallibrand Knocks.

I'm hoping to borrow a better camera when I'm finished. My friend Ethan is comming back to visit right before Christmas and I told him to bring his camera. I want to get a Cannon but I've been trying to keep up on the grad school cost...not even there yet and its already costing a fortune. I have to budget these things real close since I sold my bar in 2003 and have been living with negitive income since. If i budget just right I should be able to make it about another year which will leave one year to finace in grad school...the teaching assistanceship helps but it really only covers tuition. So, with any luck there will be some sharp and hopefully pretty pictures soon.

Oh yeah, and I wanted Halibrands but just couldn't find any. I had some torqe thrust look-alikes but they were to tall and no matter what I did they rubbed badly when turning. These work but are really close as well. I wanted to order some of the aluminum microsizers wheels from the German site but couldn't justify the cost...this thing is already getting kind of expensive. And it seemed like such a simple idea at the time...Oh well, at least I gave up on the hand hammered body idea before driving myself insane.
