Unfortunately the red se motor I was using as the drive motor burned out so it only has reverse now.
I'm using the stock mt board with the stock se capacitor on the motor. I'm wondering if this is too much voltage for it. I've burned out others in similar set ups so once I get home I'll prob. stuff an mt motor into the gearbox.
I'd much rather keep the se motor in it maybe with a couple of capacitors wired in line to the motor. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Anyways, not sure I can help you, because I'm not sure I'm clear on how you're using the capicitors. I would think that if you were trying to protect the motor from too much current you'd use resistors.
Not sure if I'd help you, but if you think it would help I'd be willing to send you the FET modded board from my dead MT.

Oops, I would need to wire in resistors not capacitors. I have the stock capacitor wired across the + & - tabs on the stock se motor.crazydave wrote:How ironic. Anyways, not sure I can help you, because I'm not sure I'm clear on how you're using the capicitors. I would think that if you were trying to protect the motor from too much current you'd use resistors.

I would really like to do a propo crawler but I don't have an Iwaver pcb. My next one will prob. have an se board and a lipo in it provided I can figure out the steering. I appreciate your offer but I'm not clear on whether it would do any good. The extra fets would allow more current to pass, correct? Any ideas on the current output to the motor for an se board and an mt board. If I knew the outputs from each board I could just adjust the output from the mt board to match the se with resistors provided that's even the problem. I'm on vacation in CT right now so I have no real way of checking. Thanks.

I don't know exact numbers on stuff, but I know what I see. More current gives you more lot more torque and an increase in HPs too. I was guessing more torque would be good for crawling, but I don't know. That's kinda why I offered, I was curious if it would do any good. Actually I've had experience in over-volting motors and have come to the conclusion that driving a motor harder than it was designed for will burn them out REALLY fast, so I've found that tossing a little inductor inline with the motor will save it from burning out.crazydave wrote:I don't know exact numbers on stuff, but I know what I see. IMO a fet mod would help only a little, but I would definatly suggest putting an inductor on the line regardless. The inductor WILL create spikes and probably screw up your range/reception so toss a ~20pf cap on the motor can to eliminate that.

Well after a year of R&D and building I finally delivered it. I'm glad to be through with it as it sure seemed to be an uphill battle.

Wow I never really bothered to look at this after the first page, until now anyways. That is increadable! I accidently went to the last page when I clicked on the topic, when I clicked the video (without reading the title) I thought so big deal a nylint with a modified cage...big deal. then I noticed it wasn't a nylint...I looked up at the title and DAMN! That thing is just amazing! I do have one question...I think I get most of it, but where did you get those shocks? How did you get soft enough springs to let them work? I guess It doesn't really matter, there's no way I could ever copy that...did I mention That thing is beyond beliefe?!!!

The " shocks " are from an xmod set, the larger ones I guess for the trucks. I cut the center section out of the shock bodies and super glued the ends onto the springs. I used the red springs as they're the softest and gave about the right amount of articulation. Don't stop yourself before you even get started. The body was definitely the most difficult and tedious part of this build but not by any means a necessary component for a capable mt crawler. I only handmade it because I'm a landcruiser nut and it was the only way to have a cruiser body that was light enough.
My next one will prob. focus on keeping the weight as minimal as possible as well as finding some stickier tires.

Is that just the articulation mod and the gear mod?
Also i suggest if u want to do that mod to anouther truck, You cut the chassis farther back, keep most of the chassis for the front. This should reduce torque roll. If you don't know what i mean i can clear it up.
