Hmmm...A 2 speed 9V Dragster now thats an Idea
Just A minute ago I was trying hooking up some of my spare and potentially disposable Motors to a 9V Battery and it got me thinking.
I got an idea of a 10.2 V Dragger. You tape a 9V on top of the PCB Cover and wire it to the engine. And when your ready to do a drag race hook up the battery and the motor and you'll start running and for a nice boost of 2 Speed push forward on the controller pumping 1.2 more Volts into the motor. But you proabbly couldn't do a very long race because the 9Vs get very hot. Or you could make a radiator... Take an ice cube cover it with aluminum foil and tape it over the battry. Now since I have this all laid out in my mind the question I pass to you guys is. Would it work and be safe and not destroy my Zip?
Another Idea from the confines of my idoitic mind.

im sure it would work fine. or instead of a 9v you can get those camera batteries that are 12v and smaller than a 9v. i wouldnt run it for long durations tho. hell yes i would. but then again with the right setup you can get a 2.4v car to go so fast that it starts to catch air and flip without even turning.

I've read that also.Scudd wrote:I've read on the Zip board about the PCB being able to handle 12v with no problems.
I was just thinking it might be a good idea to run a dragster off a 9v. It might be lighter than 8 1/4 AAAs, and since your just doing quick scale quarter mile runs, you should be able to get a a bunch of runs from it.
I think I'm going to try it.

stock rear ends are too sloppy. you will lose a lot of power unless the axle/gears are all in secure with no tolerance.CheeseWarfare wrote:What'choo talkin' 'bout Willis?hogjowlz wrote:time to invest in some jbwkik or putty. you are gona have to work on your drivetrain to be able to handle that kinda power.

About going through the PCB I won't try that because I don't want to risk it unless we know 100% that it won't fry. But if you do that you can't do it 2 speed which is a nice touch I like so you can pump in 1.2 more Volts for the finish line.
EDIT: Okay this beast is alive! But I need to make a paper clip stablizer so it doesn't fall over because of the high center of gravity. The wierd thing is that it goes backwards.AFter I make the stblizer I need to to something so the back (formerly front) wheels don't freak out and turn while its running. Any Ideas
?
EDIT2: Okay I got it going the right direction and I fixed the steering so it all works and runs fine now.Now I'm working on an On/Off switch.
