1.2V, 360MAH NIMH coin cells, maybe

General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

1.2V, 360MAH NIMH coin cells, maybe

Post by extrememicros »

I may have found a place for 380mah nimh coin cells. Not to sell, but to share, but just had one question before I finallize the info.

Can a bit or zip hack it, and how long would you have to charge the car?

these have solder tabs on them as well.

Tell me the bit can hang and I'll tell where to get them, but if they won't work, what is the point?...

They are about the size of a nickel or a bit bigger and are pretty thin, may get 2 in there stacked.

if they are the size of a nickel, then you could just remove the battery (ies 8) ) in a zip and stack 2,3,4 of them upright like this = in the middle. just solder to the battery clip tabs and whammo...batteries..but 380 mah??!! are you sure they are not telling you the total capacity of several wired up in parallel? (sp?)

link? picture?? i'd like to see this.

As far as being parallel, I don't think they are because there is three cells in the pack and it is 3.6 volts, total MAH 360.

It is basically 4 bucks a battery, which isn't too bad, considering some 3rd party shops sell stock replacements for up to 5 bucks...

If you buy, you'll have to buy three at a time cos they are prepacked in a cell.

I think it will work, so I'll need to get the number. But for now, Basically, go to RS, ask them for the phone battery that is three coin cells wired flat triangle shape.
The pack is white cased, the closest thing I found on the webpage is this:

http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?c ... d=23%2D296

The pack at my local RS may be discontinued or in store only, I'll check today for the number.

They should be easy as pie to take apart as the case is a plastic snap case that they are in. I believe the price is 11.99 for the pack.

I came across it trying to find a way to get 4.8volt packs small enough and prewired for my Viper/truck project.

My guy said that if you snap it apart, the three cells have pre assemebled tabs and the batts will just come apart fine.

Who ever said RS didn't sell cool stuff????...God I love that store, and it helps when you have a kick ass cool manager....who gives you heads up like XMods, ZZ SE/2.0 and talks zips and stuff with you all the time... :-D

I'll try to get a number today.

they worked for a little while, (3 runs) then they completely crapped out. now I charge them, they go for a few feet really fast and then completely die. I charged a 2 cell setup with 2xAA direct from a standalone that I have, and now it doesn't work. My 3cell worked a couple of times too with 4 batts, but they seemed to decide to crap out too. I don't get it...maybe I need to set up my AC/DC adapter at .35amps and 3.7v for the 3 cell...
