What bastards! Looks like these things are gonna be hell to reverse engineer.....
As for the whole LED power .vs motor thingy I guess that it wouldn't be possible to add the power from the leds to the motor. The power to the leds would be current limited with a resistor to keep the leds driving current in check with the manuf's specs.
The motor (I assume it's proprtional speed controlled yeah?) prolly goes though an ESC of some sort to achieve the speed control and that the power side of the ESC is tapped straight into the main Vcc line from the batteries (2.4V yeah?) whilst the control side of the ESC circuitry comes off the same VSource as the RX chip.
From what I can see in the picture there is a big black cansister thingy that seems to me to be an electrolytic cap (possibly 100uF?) which is used to filter the output of the DCDC convertor on the board that boosts the 2.4V from the batteries to possibly 3 - 3.3V for the RX chip to run off.
Huge assumptions here and possibly wrong given that the car is propo the RX/TX chipsets are probably fundamentally different from the chips made popular in Bitchar-g's/first gen ZZ's.
So just to ask the question/s and sound like a complete noob:
1) Steering is propo?
2) Motor speed is propo fwd & bwd?
3) Lights are what? headlights? brakelights? indicators?
4) Functionality of lights?
This stuff will help in any futher ANALysis until the black market provides me with one.
ph2t.

It will not help any. The motor and the L.E.D are both ran off the same battery(1.2v if im not mistaken) so re wiring it woud do nothing but give it another route from the battery tot he motor. I think the battery to motor wiring is just series and if you've taken any electronics you'll know that voltage is the same at all points in the series circuit so therefore i dont think it will work. But hey, im just 16 so try it if you want to and if it works ill praise u
