Yea but do they undersand what they are reading on thes boards?sessiz wrote:Last I heard the cars would have to be stock with only sanctioned RS hop ups. With a fet mod the difference would be drastic and would probably dissqualify your car. Remember RS peoples read these boards.
I do but that is because I am not in the tower.

Actually I don't think it's bullshit at all. Tamiya, and Kyosho are well known for sponsering racing series where you can only use their parts. So this is not just a RS thing.viperdout wrote:That's bullshit!!! No RS sactioned parts?!!! They have to reconize that people don't always use rs parts. I should've just typed this whole thing caps. I wonder if having an RS 2 aaa holder counts as an rs part...
Also it keeps things fair. Not everyone knows of NML's motors, for example, and among those of that do, not all of us are willing to spend 50 bucks on a motor.
And my final argument, having too much speed and power does not win the race, driving skills do. I tell this story all the time, and I'll keep telling it for as long as I have to, but when I raced 1/10th I thought I needed everything the pros were using, if I was going to race, but when I got out to the track, I quickly discovered I was making faster laps with my weaker batteries, and slower motor. On top of that, my buddy had the graphite, anodized aluminum, titanium everything, nearly 2000 bones invested, and when we'd sometimes switch cars during practice, my car, a slightly hopped up sport kit, would out handle his car every time, because I had mine dialed in, and that just pissed my buddy off.
So my point in brief, stop whining that RS is putting on an inexpensive racing series, for us broke dick mofos. If you want to go spend unlimited money on a car that's gonna be faster than you can handle, then get a real hobby level RC, a Mini-Z, or a Mini RS4, or something. That kind of racing has been available to us all along. I'm happy RS is providing me with a cheap alternative.

I see the point, so why not ban that kind of thing? I can't run my 6 cell now. Maybe they should put a ban on motors and FETs, and leave the 6 cell people alone. The 6 cell is the only mod I have. Also, in these races, are they going to be like 5 laps or something? If so, the plastic heatsink would save weight.
P.S.- Doesn't that mean you can't use IC3s?

I don't know the rules, but I bet they'd put a stop to IC3s, figure part of the plan to get you to spend money at RS.
I think it would be cool to have a separate modified class where anything goes, but I doubt RS would go for that.
I've also wondered about adding an extra cell, that's technically an RS part.

My RS was charging more for a 2 cell charger than the Rayovac 4 cell charger!!! Fuck RS on that one. Dave, I too am using an RS 2 aaa holder. There should be an unlimited class, because if I want to see what some people have thought of. I also think that these rules will keep us "hardcore" (meaning we can solder) modders away.
