I just got the Calsonic Nissan from the RCMod contest. I had every intention of opening it from the beginning. I need a 45mhz bit controller.
But then when it was in my hand I got to thinking, "Say, isn't this like a limited edition collectable?" I know I seen websites that were selling them, and they went for quite a bit more than other bits. I thought for just a moment, it might be cool to have a sealed in box collectable around.
I thought about it for 5 whole minutes, and then I went ahead and broke the tape and pulled it out to play with.
Ultimately, I want the cars to play with. Since I don't plan to ever sell it, and I didn't invest any money, I don't care about resale in the futur. The real value here, to me, is to get to play with it.
Really I hate the whole collectable toy market. Toys are for playing, not collecting.
Whach you think?
My motto: If you're not gonna drive it, buy a model. I can't understand R/C cars sitting in a box on a shelf, because you can save a lot of money and just get a hot wheels. I consider scratches a sign of good use and character.
