Anybody modding controllers?

General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

Anybody modding controllers?

Post by frizzen »

It's not really Flossin' but it's a ZZ mod, so I'm putting it here instead; if it's wrong just yell at me.

While I was gone, I picked up a DB5. I was playing with it and remembered how much I hated the SE controller.

Overview: This steering wheel projects about 1/8" from the TX body, tread is about 3/8" wide, tread is fairly grippy rubber, OD of knob is basically same as stock. Just farther out and wider, I find this to be much more controllable. If I do anything else, it'll be extending the Pistol Grip.
Jack of all trades, master of none; yet often better than master of one.

I have 2 ZZSE controller mods going on. Don't have pics, but I can if anyone needs them. One, I just removed the battery carrier, put a female DC jack in the side and soldered it up to the battery leads so I can charge cars with an AC adaptor. The other is in progress and it's installing an xmod controller wheel.

I've seen a couple people around here do mods to the SE's controller wheel. I started one once, but it was more work than I had time for, so it got forgotten.
...crazy man, crazy...dig it.

I used one of those superslick steering wheels on my SE, it works great. It's larger and has a rubber grip. Sure makes driving those SEs a lot easier.

Sorry for the fuzzy angled pic, I wasnt taking the picture of the remote at the time.

Did a few, always wanted to find a pistol grip that fit for one, but the dam peace loving activists closed down all the hand gun shops around here. Sure you can buy an Uzi on the street easy enough but there aren’t a lot of choices when it comes to pistol grips, besides people look at you funny when you whip out a ZZ controller and start measuring the grip, even the “we sell to criminals only” crowd seems to frown on terrorist so your liable to get shot before you can explain that it’s for an RC car, and even then they won’t sell to you because they are afraid of guns in the hands of honest citizens, a criminal could get hurt that way you know.
