General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

I get the kids home....... and one of my daughters said that the controller looks like a baby's toy.

You know, she's right. The one that she saw was the red controller with yellow buttons.

You know, I agree. And to help out with that, why don't all of us who have gotten one (or even if you haven't yet), leave a positive review on the TRU website?
I have submitted one already for one.Tell me what ya think;
These are fun micro RC cars. They are definately a must have of anyone who collects micro RC (like me), and anyone who remembers the older 1/10 RC buggies that they resemble. So far, I have gotten 4 out of the 5 that are available. The manufacturer of these have been pumping out quality micro RC's for a long time, so I am confident that they will be very reliable for quite a while.
The controller is a bit small in my opinion, but forgivable since they use infrared signals instead of radio frequencies. They have 4 different bands, and when up to 4 people on the different bands are running these at the same time there is absolutly no cross interference. A plus is also the 2 speeds, which makes for a more competetive racing experience with others when maneuvering around obstacles.
Another great thing about this line of tiny RC cars, is that you can actually drive it on some types of carpet. So, you are not limited to just hardwood or linolium floors. Just remember to vacuum beforehand, they do pick up a little bit of debris that can get in the axles.
To sum it up, definately get one.....or all of them, and have some fun.

Maybe we can jump start it a little by suggesting people buy these. And who knows, maybe Spin Master will import more if they start selling better. Or maybe they can start importing more Tomy stuff. :???:
Just trying to be positive, is all.

BTW. I figured out a way to mod these to properly fit a Zip body. It looks pretty sweet, especially the Herbie body sitting on it.

I'm kinda hesitant to buy one of these. I'm all for an all-terrain micro rc, but my last (Japanese import) Q-Steer buggy sucked the D. I just brought it out a day or two ago and the tires have cracked to pieces, the steering was much weaker than the Q-Steer cars, they were unbearably slow unless you held down the turbo button, they couldn't get enough speed to jump, and now my controller won't even charge it. Anyone know if the new models have improved on any of these issues? I know someone said they were faster.

Alright well I got tired of waiting for a reply (:fu:) and talked myself into getting one for the same reasons I got my first Tamiya one that didn't end up so well. This time I thought it was actually worth modding and working on. I picked up the Hornet today and so far have just painted the rims and added actual headlights. The only thing is I had to wire them to the motor and as soon as you put a load on the motor, the light flickers and dims. Still looks pretty good in the picture though. I still have a few things planned and will write up my little review of them tomorrow. It's 4 in the morning now and I don't have work tomorrow.

What do you all think? I like it alot. The wiring also ended up stiffening the suspension, so an added bonus.

Looks good, I like the lights, I was thinking about doing some lights if/when I get one. It may draw way to much power but I was thinking of doing roof lights.

Now I know my wife can't stand the micros. If I ask her to pick me up a $12.99 quart of fuel on her way home from work, she will not hesitate. I told her I wanted to get one of these, and she said maybe. Maybe? WTF? So played her game and waited patiently for an answer, until the commercial came on TV, and then I did my best impersonation of my son, and said, "Looky! Can I have it, can I, huh, please please please."

So I ordered a Hornet. I want to get the big wing off the Avante, so I can make a copy of my Rising Fighter.

Ok, so I'll admit it, I've fallen in love with the Toysrus clones. They have better motors and better overall performance. This time I was actually motivated to make some more mods to it since it's already fun to drive around. Last night I added a brake (reverse) light, stiffer front springs (cut down ZZMT springs) and made a real 1/16" tuber roll cage. What do you all think? I love her.

Looks good, I love the tube frame. What kind of run times are you getting with the lights?

Hey Dave, I don't remember the Rising Fighters...it looks like a evolution of the Grasshopper, is it close?

Yep, it's a brand new car based off the Grasshopper, with elements from the Hornet, and the anime styling of the Fighter cars. I reviewed it in the April issue. Kinda sucked because I built it months ago, and had to send it back and wait a couple months for them to take pictures before I got to drive it.

I like the rollcage, S&M, I'm gonna have to do that. :-o
... and I need a tiny motorcycle rider to chop the head off of. :???:

I've got to get around to subscribing. I keep thinking I will, but then I never get organized enough to remember to mail in the damned card. That buggy does look good, I wish they'd do a re-pop of the Sand Scorcher...I looked on ebay and those things are going for around a grand.

Yesterday I took her out in the sun (cutting the top off seemed to help the IR in high sunlight) and was getting about 5 minutes give or take for jump setting time, admiring, getting stuck, etc.

Thanks, I was really stoked when I found the 1/16" brass tubing I had lying around. I was afraid that if if I only had a solid rod, that it would add weight. I think this way it is about the same as stock. And no soldering required.

Micro Terrain Titans are Q-Steer!

I picked up 3 of them at Toysrus yesterday. On the remote it says "Q-steer". On the bottom of the car, "Q-steer 2007 Tomy Made in China"

THis is the Bit Char-G = Microsizer thing all over again, but they didn't even bother changing the molds this time.

I don't know if the ones with thinner front wheels are better but I got the white "4 wheel drive" version and the steering needs to be stronger, it's ok on really smooth surfaces but stronger magnets would make these a whole lot better. BTW, this is my first Q-Steer...whoo-who!

Uh, this is my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Q-steer... A Boomerang, Hornet, and Hotshot.
They didn't have the other 3 styles. Um, I kinda missed being able to buy Micro, and after 2 years of jonsing for any Q-steers... Um, gotta find the other 3 somewhere.

It's a box-stock DirtyBit, and I like it!

Kinda slow, but that means I can play in smaller areas.
Slow until you hit the boost button, might be able to do the old Bit TX anti-boost mod?
Weak steering, may get better once parts wear in and the coils get more normalized to the EMF, it seemed to work on the Bits.

Wonder if an SE cell would fit? Or a pair of LR44s with a spacer plug? Or...

Pics or Tut on the lights!
