Finally...A chassis fitting of the Jeep ZZ shell

General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

How hard is it to go to ebay and do a search for "Mean speed Machine"? I've already done all of the leg work for you.

BTW...I don't agree that RS doesn't know how to make decent bodies. Most of the muscle car shells (SE and OG) they have put out are great examples of nice looking bodies. The new Vette past and present kit looks to be another winner. The Jeep body and Mazda RX8 are more examples of nice bodies. Yeah, they have come up with quite a few shells that look like ass because they tried to put sports cars on the high-profile SE chassis, but some ZZ shells are the nicest most detailed 1/64 shells out there....IMO.

I agree, but IT WOULD BE GREAT IF RADIO SHACK COULD PRODUCE A LOW PROFILE CHASSIS FOR THE SPORTS CARS. Sorry, I'm not yelling, I just want to send RS a message. Hopefully they'll see this.

Agreed. It took a lot of work to get my TT SE body to sit at a decent level. Even then, I had to trim a crapload of plastic off just so the wheels wouldn't rub. Also, I can't stand ZZ rims. All of em look like shit.

Well yeah ....duh.

BTW....I picked up another bigfoot MT today just to see if it would be any faster. Its about the same speed as the first one I picked up. It will pop a wheelie on to its ass like the richh video, but not consistently. I'm thinking the Hummer body on richh's MT may have something to do with it.

Regardless, what these things lack in speed they make up for in tourque and climbing ability....which is really what you want a MT to do. This thing will climb over things a regular bit could never even begin to negotiate. It climbs over just about anything on my desk....cables, lamp bases, remote controls, stacks of magazines, coasters, etc. Its just plain fun and definitely gets the thumbs up from me.

It may have also been surface and tires that made him pop wheelies. The more friction, the more wheelie action.

You guys are really getting my hopes up with these.

Anyone else develop a squeak in the drivetrain of their ZZ MT? I'm thinking of lubing the drivetrain with a couple of drops of lubricant that came with my beard trimmer. Its a little difficult to identify exactly where it is coming from though.

same her sdog-sometimes it happens and sometimes it goes away.it sounds silly but i think its because its not under much of a load and it is spinning so fast. i barely had it with the stock stuff but now it happens alot with my mod motor and gears. i guess this proves the theory correct.

Now that you mention it, it didn't start happening until after I changed over to the mod motor. You could be right. It seemed like it got a bit worse as time went on though.

These things are pretty damn fast with the mod motors in them....although nowhere near as fast as richh's modded beast. Between the speed and the climbing ability, this has quickly become my favorite bit.

do you mean more like a screech? with mine i noticed that if you gun it while you hold the truck in the air, the screech starts when the idler gear drifts towards the wheel. there's a little play on that shaft and when the rpms go up the idler drifts out and then the screech starts. i held idler down with a little toothpick and the screech went away. might put some sort of paper washer on the outside of the idler to take up the slack and eliminate the screech.

My range isn't too bad, but not the best of my bits either. It glitches a little bit after it gets about 12-15 ft. away. It also glitches in the typical glitch hotspots in my house. I'd say nothing too out of the ordinary. But
I have other ZZ's with better range than this truck for sure.

I guess you could call it a screech....but I think I know what you are referring to and that is not it. It really is more of a squeak and I am pretty sure it is coming from somewhere in the 4WD system. I'll try the idler gear thing.

Not too expensive, you might have a Cat5 cable laying around, they're like the kind you use when you network computers. If not you could probably find a electronics supply wharehouse that has spools and sell it by the foot.

It not hard to do. Get the thin wires out, pick your color, trim to length of old antenna. Unsolder the old one, solder on the new one.

There your done, and you have no change to your reception, but it shure does look pretty all matching your body and sticking straight up.
...crazy man, crazy...dig it.
