Can I join the club now?

General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

I've come down with the sickness as well. Last week I got a silver 350z chassis set, the Camaro/Challenger bodies, and the 2F2F Street tuner kit. Raced against a homey with identical setups except I used that purple motor and he used a Perfection 3.8. Identical! You guys gotta try the red gears. For $13 that tuner set is a steal.

Soon I will be spending about $40 to get another ZZ chassis and a MS Pro to donate a PCB. MMMMMmmm... internal dual cell, two-speed muscle car.

Well, I missed that opportunity. None of the Radio Shacks around me had any of those tuner kits left. One said they did, but they had the starter sets with the F&F bodies. I didn't want to leave my house for no reason, so I said, Ok give me that. It's not bad, but on the way home I kinda wished I got the 350Z, but that don't matter because it's gonna be wearing one the muscle car bodies anyways. I'm not too bummed about the tuner set because I wasn't that into those bodies, and I have faster motors, just seemed like a good deal if I could find it. More just irritated that I was led on. On the plus side, both RSs right next to me have pul-lenty of the muscle cars, so I'll have no trouble getting a couple of those later this week.

So anyways here's the RX-7 that came with it. It's not too bad, anxious to see how it runs, but I need to clean the kitchen first, so I might not get to it right away.

Also when I was there he was checking out a new 1/43 scale car they got in. I don't know how much these are like the Vipers they had before, but this was a Vette, and it was pretty nice. I like the charging base because it looked like a nice dispay stand that comes with die-cast collectibles, and the car was pretty quick. About as fast as a dual-celled bit. He let me drive it, and I couldn't tell if the steering was proportional, but on that low pile carpet they have in RS it was a blast to drive, and fast enough to pitch the rear end around through corners, even with the grip from the carpet. Thing would probably go mad on tile. It also has headlights, turn signals, and hazard lights you control from the controller. The $49 kinda turned me off, but I guess I've put more than that into my Franken-Zap, and it's cheaper than a Mini-Z, so I guess that's not a bad price, but I'll wait until after next Christmas, and see if I can get one of these for $12 like they cleared the Vipers out at.

**checked it out on the website, and the steering is proportional, and they're calling it a limited editon. I think I want it. Check it out...1/43 scale Corvette

My chrome RX8 body was quickly replaced by a muscle car body last week. I had full intentions of using the Challenger body, but that Camaro is shaped sooooooo sexy. The Camaro is definitely my fave.

On a side note, my hybrid turbo Bit/Zap bit the big one Friday night. I don't know what happened. I was driving around my Camaro and the thing just died. No smoke. No fire. No nothing. The PC board must have given up the ghost. I scavenged another MSPro for its pcb, and everything is sweet now.

I did do things a little differently with the batteries when I swapped the pcb. I used those little files that Radio Shack sells to scar the tips of the batteries. They worked perfectly for getting the solder to stick. Much better than sandpaper. It would take a jackhammer to remove my battery connections now. I also took some solid core wire and hammered it flat to make the connections between the batteries. After hammering the wire and soldering it in place, I used my wife’s super-duper emery board to sand down the soldered connections, so they were nice and thin and flat. That emery board rocks for making the solder connections nice and small. No battery fit problems whatsoever.

I did remember to draw a wiring diagram, for connecting an MS Pro pcb to a Zip Zap chassis, this time around. I’ll post up a picture of the diagram tonight.
