Just so you know gasket maker does not get hard its stays flexible and it will not sand well so you might have some problems. As stores like Wal-Mart they sell touch up Bondo for small projects its cheap and sandable you might try that if you cant find Hobby putty.

Thank god you removed the pop up lights. That to me has always been an awkward look on that Zip. Very interested in how these turn out. Incase you havn't seen them before, here is some work that our boy Hiroto did this winter.
and
Same general idea, but I am digging SFs suggestion on the two tone white and bright coloring.
As for putty, I am a cheap ass bastard and over a year ago I bought a thing of Testor putty that I have used on all of my projects. I am too cheap to buy somthing when I already have some on hand, even if it's better. This shit sucks, but if it's all you have access to, it gets the job done... eventually.

Thanks Finks, hiroto does some sick shit..... I am going to paint her white and tangerine. I got some putty at wal-mart (bondo spot putty in a big ass tube) for a buck fidy... I haven't messed with it yet but I should have it ready for primer in a day or two. keep ya pimps posted.
I got codes DC mod board over the weekend and got it installed this evening. The difference is amazing and no more buzzing sound at full throttle. It fits perfect behind the motor pod as you can see in the pics.

That's lookin' great, man... can't wait to see this thing done.
What do you plan to do for tires on those wheels? It'd be sweet if you could keep those wheels, but use some good rubber. SuperFly picked up one of those JGTC die cast cars, and I dug those wheels, but the plastic tires kept me away. They look killer on there, so I hope ya make 'em work!

You're right hue, the tires sucked, I was able to get a little better traction with using some 800 grit sandpaper and running the car over it to lightly roughen up the tires. Not much better but will do until I find somthing better. I hate to give up the wheels but if I have to I will.
The spoiler in the last 2 pics is the one I am using. It came off a superslick skyline. I trimed the legs a little so it would not sit to high and look all silly and shit.

Thanks pimp, I had my doubts at first that it would turn out like crap. I have always liked watching the JGTC races on speed.Finks wrote:Wow, looking fantastic. At first I thought this project was a goof, but now you have me thinking about this style. This could be the best RX7 ZipZap SE I have seen. (not that hard tho, cuz stock, that shell is fugly)
:edit: Oh and I dig the vent/hood scoop
The wing does look alot better then the orange one. I like progress pics as well. Sometimes I get in a big hurry and forget to take pics durning the build. I am gettin better at it though.steelwoolghandi wrote:That is looking so sweeeeeet! I too like the hood scoop (intake) and the tail wing looks a lot better then the first one and its just the right size! that is some great custom work man A real Pimp Job!!
I always like the step by step process pics too!
