I love what you guys are doing here. It's perfect for a guy like me, kinda making my way through this whole mod thang.
I mean you're even showing pics of the dang toys you got the tires from.
Awesome!
I just havn't commented yet cause I want one so bad, and don't want to admit to anyone that I can't even afford the $6.00 right now.
I should quit smoking cigarettes. Heck, I could quit for a couple days and have money for one.

Picked up one of these today (been to every wallgreens in my area and i finally found one left ) anyways, have you guys figured out how many cells the stock pcb can take? Im sure 2 is fine but what about a tri cell? Ive found the same problems with the steering and the slop in the rear but all in all i think its a great platform to start an awsome off road bit. It certainly needs some rear suspension and alot more power. For the price though you cant go wrong

i wouldn't run more than 3 cells with a bit pcb.
i've seen ph2t run 4 cells before but everything got too hot, motor endbells melt, fets got too hot, battery leads melted off.
i'm not sure what happens to stock transistors at that voltage either, can't be good.
just stick with 3 cells or 1 lipo.
even better, try a fetmod. you might just find out that more volts aint the answer

Yeah I always find a good fet mod to be much more useful than extra cells. One of the problems with adding voltage beyond a dual cell is the room needed to drive a car with that much power often exceeds the range of the tx/rx.
A fet mod, single cell and the right motor is usually my favorite combination for a car that is really fast but still totally under control. An internal dual cell is next. Another problem with adding more cells than 2 is the weight of the batteries adversely affects the handling. Which is another reason betty's LiPo suggestion is good as you get the added voltage in a smaller package. The internal dual cell is nice because it puts all that battery weight on the floor of the chassis more or less centered between the wheels.

Okay, here's the deal with these new Charge-N-Gos.richh wrote:heh, same boat... been to 3 walgreens and all i find are the charge-n-go cars. if anyone finds any in the chicago area, let me know...steelwoolghandi wrote:Well I have the cash (don't smoke ) But I cant find any of these in my area would love to dig a few of these up to mod!
Supposedly, Walgreens gets all of their stock for all of their stores all at once.
If the Walgreens if Phoenix has 'em, then the Walgreens everywhere else should have 'em.
Right now, before the Christmas season, they are doing what is called an 'aisle reset'. Not sure of the exact details there, but here's what's happening.
They are letting their stock in the aisles dwindle until a certain date. Then they are counting product on that aisle, then adding in the new/Christmas stuff. At least this is what was explained to me.
Anyway, I found these Charge-N-Gos at both the Walgreens I went to.
The were packed away up top on a different aisle even. Just 3 regular cars were on the regular shelf in the toy section.
I went to 2 seperate Walgreens because the lady at the first was not helpful at all with letting me look at the ones up top in overstock. She says she hasn't seen any trucks, even though we were both looking at the outside packaging of the Charge-N-Gos with pictures of the dang trucks on them. She was a little quick and slightly rude, like she didn't want me to 'put her to work'.
I went to another Walgreens down the street about 7 miles away, and this gorgeous woman helped me look at the overstock there.
(of course, she's sooo beautiful i say "i wanted to see if you have these different RC toys here for me to dual cell, uh, i mean for my nephews birthday" )Sure enough, there they were!! (i got to watch her climb a ladder and stuff )
I wanted to return to the first Walgreens just to see if that lady was just giving me a 'story'.
Not sayin' your guys' local Walgreens for sure has them, but I had to hunt them down, so to speak.
Also I'm told that this 3 for $11.98 price will last up to and possibly through Christmas.
If you guys still can't find them where you're at, I can help you 2 out within a weeks time.
Go rustle some Walgreen feathers and lemme know.
BTW, I picked one up and the reviews here are right on the money, and very accurate as far as describing these right out of the bubble.

Addition to my previous review:
The wires and soldering are crap! As I mentioned earlier, not all the leads were really soldered to pads on the PCB. The wiring isn't good quality either, it breaks with the least provocation. You might want to be careful with the hardwired motor, one of the wires FELL out of the endbell. (Soldering the brush back onto a wire isn't fun, but is possible. I'm thinking about taking a few winds off to make a mod-motor) So today on my breaks at work, I ran all new wires, fixed up the bad solder joints, hardwired in a yellow ZZ-M motor; but ran out of time before I could finish wiring in Dual cells.

Anybody have a fairly clean way to change a round bullet remote from 2 AA batts over to a 3 batt? Maybe even keep charge timer? I've got some ideas, but wanted to know the pimpest way.

Jack of all trades, master of none; yet often better than master of one.

At RS, get one of these:frizzen wrote:Anybody have a fairly clean way to change a round bullet remote from 2 AA batts over to a 3 batt? Maybe even keep charge timer? I've got some ideas, but wanted to know the pimpest way.
Drill a small hole on the back of the controller and solder the wires to the respective contacts of the internal battery holder, so you basically have the snap part hanging out the back of your controller. Then get one of these:
except get the one that holds 3 AA batts (they do make and sell them, just couldn't find it on their website). Use a big fat rubber band to strap it onn to the controller.
This way, you can either snap on the 3-pack and charge dual cell cars and have some extra voltage for TX, or you can still use the internal battery holder for normal usage.

cool but if you run the controller with 3 cells will it fry anything?
also, if anyone is interested i found this online tonight
http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-Charge-N-go-re ... dZViewItem
it looks like its for a bunch of them but dont quote me on that one.
i went to another wallgreens and was able to pick up the last 2 they had,,one suprise i came upon is that two the the 3 ran better and one was quite slow. Im thinking of doing an overland style suspension conversion and a zzmt motor with dual or tri cells,, should rock if i can pull off the suspension.
