I'm with you guys. I got a red 911 for Christamas. I thouht it was pretty cool, but when I put a fast motor in it, it didn't go fast. That sucked. So it became my on going project I refer to as Franken-Zap. Yeah sure it's fast now, but was it worth all the extra money I put into it?
I bought one of the Gold Civics, because I was wandering around the mall looking to blow some money, and there's really not anything very exciting in my mall. It was improved, but the steering sucked on this one, and it didn't seem to handle a 3.2 very well.
I swore I wouldn't buy another one just because it was there, but I did. I bought a F&F RX-7 just to put the Dodge body on, but this time I was pleasantly surprised. With a 2.2 stock, and the new PCB it was actually a cool car right out of the box. With the 2 Fast 2 Furious street tuner set, it's everything I ever wanted, initially. Some bodies, gears and motors to swap around, and it goes fast, but if it was this easy back around christmas, I wouldn't of had so much fun dual-celling, PCB swapping, fixing steering coil wires and all that fun stuff.
As far as RS's reputation, I would never buy any of their overpriced, TVs stereos, speakers, phones, or computers. My dad always bought that Realistic stuff, and it was either crap, overpriced crap, or a repackaged overpriced Pioneer, Casio, or RCA. (or at least my dad swore it was made by those companies), and if your amp blows up, then you'll find out how crappy their customer service is, I did. Radio Shack is the last place where I can score a capacitor, resistor, or some other electronic component on almost every street corner. So I've always supported RS just so I would have a place to buy parts locally, but now I'm just glad they have something worth buying.

I gotta give my props to the ZZ/MS Pro hybrid as well. Best car I own. I've done just about every combination of 1 speed, 2 speed, single cell, dual cell, 1.6, 2.2, 2.6, 3.0, 3.5, 3.8, Formula34, R-Spec, bitmod1, Perfection, you name it. The only thing I haven't done is an external dual cell, but I'm not that into wheelies (not to mention one of my internal dual cells will do them anyway). LXX rear tires, KITT racer energi rears on the front (or Tomy hard), throw a Camaro body on there and that's the shizzle. Also, the 2f2f Street Tuner kit from RS is a great deal. Both of those motors are great, and an extra set of red gears are worth the $13, not to mention the 2 bodies and hub sets.
A while ago there was a lot of talk about drifting, but I think the short wheelbase of the bits/ms makes it really difficult to break the ass end loose and not completely spin. With a dual cell and a boost PCB, you can use drifting as a great means of control in the corners. What's cool is that with the dual cell and a good motor, the car actually behaves like a muscle car would.

I'll second dat! I use all (well, not quite all) my Microsizers for Zip Zap parts!Buzzbait wrote:Cabo - You've gotta' throw an MSPro pcb into one of those Zips, and add an extra bat while yer at it. A stock Zip is not necessarily better than a Bit, but a Zip with a booster pcb and extra battery is like sex with a supermodel. Well, as close as a tiny RC can get to a supermodel.
Scotty, beam me up.

The RX8 is no guarantee of a new board. I’ve bought 2 RX8s. One had a good board, and the other had a slow old board. I’ve also heard rumors of some newer model Zip Zaps shipping with slow boards. I have a feeling that Radio Shack has multiple plants building the boards for these cars. Some plants have faster boards. Others have slower boards.

New zip
I just picked up th enew supra (ugly "tan" 2F2F one) got it for $10 from RS!! Asked the guy about buying returned/damaged stuff and he had this one. The controller antenna was/is broke, thats th ereason it was returned. So i can use a different controller or throw that one out and put a better one on it for more range. Not a bad deal for $10. Im gonna see if it runs the new 3.4 motor. Im assuming that these new 2F2F cars will hav ethe better PCB's.

yep, i must pledge my allegiance (sp?) to the bitzaps...i made one a few days ago. Not a booster, but the smaller, faster pcb with nicer controller and the teal gears gets my pants excited
not to mention my perfection 3.8... Yep, i still gotta dual cell it..see what that's all about. The cells fit perfectly. weee off to downtown!
