Cars Series ZZ's have limiting resistor!

General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

It runs well on concrete, but does traction roll if your not carefull. And runt time is just plain shit now too :-(
But I'm still happy
  I bypassed the resistor this morning.... I have not done a two cell or fet mod on any of my cars, but if this is what it is like......man! I don't think that any other mod, that would be this easy to do, would give so much more of an improvement.

I didn't do anything BUT donuts on my kitchen floor. So I figured the red "turbo" higher ratio gears might take away some of the torque. Nope. I put the wide tire/wheel package on the rear to help with traction control. Nope.So then I said, what the heck. So, I put the purple motor in it ("34k rpm").
Now I get as much driving time as I get in charging time :o

This is crazy. I can get 2 ft then it spins out. I don't have a big enough spot to run it here, so I'll run it on the concrete at my dad's today. I might be able to get a vid of it. Being that I have only seen modded bits/zips on line, maybe you guys could tell how it compares to them. :-)

IBJ, if you like what you got with that mod, you really ought to check into doing a mosfet mod. It doesn't give you as much raw power as a dual-cell, but it seems to be much more useable power, doesn't require any chassis modding or different charging setup, and doesn't add the substantial weight of an additional battery. If anything, a mosfet mod extends your runtime. My single-cell mosfetted cars are my favorite to drive.

Ok, gone through a TON of mods since the last post..

1. completed diff mod

unfortuanatly, as some people thought, dosnt quite work.. the wheel directly geared to the motor pushes a lot more.

2. went back to stock axle, then added a superslick motor and a 50 mah high discharge cell and a semi-propo board on throttle. Also made the cg low as hell... all below the top of the tires. Notice the SS motor hangin in the back

Image

at first throttle step:

highest throttle step, just spins like a fuckin.... somethin, dunno

Image

highest throttle on carpet, just goes nutty:

Definatly the most power I've ever stuffed into one of these.

3. went back to nimhs and put the stock pcb in, lots of fun as it is.. quick vid of it on a lil track:

:-D Lipo.

Man that's a beast on lipo , Allthough seems uncontrollable to say the least. How about a 1.0 motor with red gears ? Still faster than a tri cell ?

Nice work on the diff too. :-o

ooh nice work Beanoman! :-o :-o :-o Thats a zippy little sucker.

With the diff, you can alter the ammount of slip/no slip in it by the
ammount of pressure the bevel gear has on the zz transfer gears.
Otherwise it'll act as an open diff with only the power wheel spinning(as
is apparent by it's design) takes a little fine tuning but you can balance
the cars weight/power/traction with it. If you can thin out the cap holding
the bevel gear, there's enough room for it to roll on the larger section
of the zz transfer gears. Got another version in the works. Gotta keep things fresh.

I just pulled the Cripple Resistor out of my Lightning McQueen... Holy fuck, suddenly it's acting like a racecar.

Took it into my kitchen. Violent wheelhop, and continious donuts if you tap steering. Oh. Swap to wide rears and sticky tires, more moderate wheelspin with less donuts.

i guess this'll just be a place for me to put some shit on what i've done with the cars series chassis. keep it together, nice and neat, lol...

the front end was keeping down ok with its simple suspension, but the ass end was all over the place when i was running it earlier. on some surfaces i could clearly see the rear hopping up and down.. so i gotta give some rear suspension a go. hacked up some old chassis for the rear pod, and popped the motor off the old rear end, glued it onto the new one.. same beauterful meshing, check.

STFU already beano, and give em the single sad pic :-D

Planing on a thin plastic packaging material h-plate, and maybe a xmod evo shock on it? it would need a much softer spiring :???:

 That's hilarious. My brother and I mention that alot to eachother while racing.
Sometimes, it's quiet in the room, and were all 'into it', and all you hear is *click**clickclickclick**click**clickclick*clickclickclickclick*
On a larger oval track, he says he can hear a rythym to my clicking, like I repeat just about the same pattern of clicking on every turn.
lol, I said "my clicking"

Cool vids too Beano! :-o Puts it right into perspective for me.

betty, yeah.. r3ar spr1ngs r c00l th0!!111

and thank yaw, miester gong :-)

got the rear suspension in, and it was running awsome. a combination of dropping it and running it into something at full speed damaged a nuckle. then it was doing not so hot.. spent about 10 minutes on the nuckle today, and mainly by adding in a metal washer it now spins ok. it is a tad sloppier than it was stock.

the suspension in the ass of it, somewhat surprisingly to me, really helps it. a bit more stable on wood floors, but really a big difference on rough carpet/tiles.

also, this is a BITCHIN smooth chassis. getting near the top end, it'll roll 10+ feet without any power
