I'd like to waterproof one to do some deep water crossings and junk. Maybe dip the board in epoxy or something. The motors are trickier, not sure what to do with them.
I built the waterfall so it didn't have any deep spots to submerge it in an inadvertent roll. Even so it quit on me once when it got too wet. Luckily letting it sit in the sun to dry out for a while cured the problem.

Do you have to do anything? I break in my Mini-z motor in a cup of water, they run fine submerged. Different kinds of motors, I know, but seems like it would work.

Yea motors run perfect submurged , just make sure you oil them out afterwards , so they dont rust up. But you should be sweet otherwise.

Try using plasti-dip on the PCB , Maybe that would work ?if not you could always put the PCB in a balloon and silicone seal it shut around the wires :-o there's a thread about it somewhere. :-o

Don't even have to go as far as plastidip or balloons, you can just melt candle wax all over the board and you'll have it waterproof . Like they said, the motor and the batts are cool underwater, just not the board (you've noticed).

Guess what, WASTELANDER? You're on my shit list. You make SHAUN look like a fuckin' genius, which is great for SHAUN, but sad for you.

If you don't have anything useful to add, then don't make a post. And, if you do make a post, read it 5 times before you hit "submit"... correct all the typos, and look up any words you aren't sure of (that'd be all of them). Maybe even have your baysitter have a look at it before you hit "submit". :-o

i read this earlier and knew i had done the same thing but it didn't quite click... finally i realized when i had done it, 17 YEARS AGO!!... building my clodbuster i had to break in a set of Trinity Monster Horsepower motors... thought it was crazy at the time dipping $100 worth of motors in water

damn i feel old now, that was my second r/c and the first one i bought and built myself... i've been buying parts lately to rebuild it again, hopefully a sweet tubed crawler
