I'm going to nominate the Porsche 356 because of it's universal appeal and simple lines. I think you could pop one out in a day. It's also one that will look correct on a Bit chassis.
I tired to do an aircooled Beetle but I could not get the rear end proportions right, which maybe why no one sells one.

Can you say Fiat made in the now nonexistent country of Yugoslavia.sidewinder wrote:How about a Yugo...sure its a 7.5 on the "zero to Gary Busey" scale of ugliness, but I'll bet no one else has done one!
At least they did one good thing when they introduced it onto the world. The company did send the parts over to repair them, unlike most companies now adays. Heard many good things about that back in the day.

I have been thinking of the Porsche line but like you say low bodies are hard to get right when you are making them into bit bodies. The fronts sit so low and they turn out not looking right. Same with the GT40 that ZZ put out it takes some modding to get it to look right on the chassis.SuperFly wrote:That would be on my list, but like the GT40, low, flat cars are really hard to get looking right for a bit unless you make a custom chassis.sidewinder wrote: another one to think about would be a Porsche 917.
A '64 Impala would be pimp.
Now the 64 Impala that sounds more like it lots of beast to hide a chassis under there!
I am also thinking of a land rover any ideas for year and style?

Back in ancient times--when I was young--I used to club race at Mid-Ohio and Nelson's Ledges...at one of the regional meets we had this odd little guy and his wife show up trailering a "hot rodded" Yugo. They were part of Team Yugo...it was an attempt to sell low buck teams Yugos for road racing. After we got done laughing our ass off the strange little man challenged anyone in a Rabbit, Mazda (323s I think, its been a while) or anyone in the class to run in an promotional event . Of coures the Yugo was built when others were running "close" to the rules. That thing was ungodly fast ...for three laps when it coughed up a piston . Of course we laughed our asses off again. That was the first and last we saw "Team Yugo."BilboBaggins wrote:Can you say Fiat made in the now nonexistent country of Yugoslavia.sidewinder wrote:How about a Yugo...sure its a 7.5 on the "zero to Gary Busey" scale of ugliness, but I'll bet no one else has done one!

Latter that year I went to our Buick dealership, they were selling Yugos for $2500 (they stickered for $3995) so I decided to give them a second look. On the test drive the alternator died and when I got back to the dealership (in a Chevy Van that they sent) I saw a mechanic shaking his head looking like he was going to throw stuff as they towed the little Fiat 128 parts car in. I had a quick talk with him and realized that it wasn't unusual and I realized what the little cars really were.
But some people I've talked to had better experiances with them, and hope springs eternal http://www.inet.hr/~bpauric/eindex.htm they are planning on bringing the new Yugo KKK to America ...I'm guessing they'll have to change the name.

They were supposed to have the "new" Yugo here by 2003, then 2005, then you just stopped hearing about it... They were calling it Zastava Motor Works. The line of I think 3 cars and a microtruck was somewhere between "better looking than an Aztek" to "Wow, the car was carved from the wood of an Ugly Tree." But, I really don't see them bringing to America a new Serbian version of a massively aged Italian car powered be a French engine. Too much of an unholy union.
Then again, the old ones were an old Italian car built in (former)-Yugoslavia powered by an Italian engine. If they were worked on correctly, and had the components breathed on enough, they could apparently become halfway decent cars?

I'm a " sort of " fan of Land Rovers but only the old ones.steelwoolghandi wrote:I am also thinking of a land rover any ideas for year and style?
Any Toyota 4wd for me. The older the better. I guess my ultimate would be an FJ45LV or an FJ45.
45LV
