See if this clears it up Finks:

Image

The shocks are mounted to the motor mount/axle section. The springs slide down the shock shaft and are stopped by the piece of clear plastic but the shaft continues through the plastic chassis through two holes. When the shocks depress the axle goes up and the shock shafts go through the hole in the truck bed. With the pcb and the batteries there is more than enough weight in the truck to offset the shocks for them to be useful in rock climbing and off road driving (although its only 2 wheel drive :?

EDIT:Upon closer inspection its not looking like 3 cells are going to fit in this thing so its probably going to be downgraded to two but we will see,, i suppose i could always stick something in part of the bed but i dont want it to look goofy.,, we will see,, its turning out nice though

Does that help? or am i missing your point? It may make more sense when its compleatly finished

Nope I get it, thanks man. Well that's the thing about stock built, we will see when it's finished. Looks great.

Also I notice in that pic you glued/attached the wheels to the stock bit ones? Was that for clearance?

Yeah, what i ended up doing for the wheel mounting was to grind down part of the stock rim (so glue would stick) and then attach the custom rims i made for the new tires to the outside of that (if that makes sense) I did this because i needed more of a negative offset for a wider wheel base and that was the simplest way i could think to do it. Because of its height i figured the wider the better so it doesnt end up on its top as much.

ok, here is an update. I dont have the electronics in there but there are 3 cells in there for weight. It needs alot more work but the suspension is functional now: It looks a little goofy because its sooooo tall and the tires arent huge but i have some running board and such to put on still so it will even it out a little i promise

you can see by the ruler im getting about 1/4 in of virticle travel,, i get more when just one side articulates at a time though

Thats great work man, nice offroad collection you have. I'm working on an offroader to, because RS in Canada is turning into Source or something, they are selling there ZZ's and Xmods cheaper. I picked up 2 ZZ for $30 today and can't wait to mod them.
