General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

Micro Terrain Titans / Q-Steer

Post by cj »

The other day at work I saw a piece if a commercial with a micro/ZZ sized rc buggy. :-D I have been going through my TIVO and can't find the commercial. At the End of the commercial it showed a web site but didn't get a chance to write it down. If anyone has seen these things or know the url post it. :-)

Did it look something like this?

just search Q-steer, here's an ebay seller...http://cgi.ebay.com/TAMIYA-GRASSHOPPER- ... |294%3A200 it was the firts seller that I saw so look around you may find a better deal.

If it's not the Q-steer then I don't know what it would be.

nope the detail of the rc was better than that. At first glance it looked like a more true to scale.

Closer but not quite the ones I saw. The detail of the buggy was close and the controller was ZZ like and the car attached to the side of the controller. Controller was blue with white buttons.

Id say they are clones but it's for the better. I had purchased a Tamiya buggy and then when I saw these at TRU I picked up another and the TRU version is much better. :-)
There are several models available. It has an on/off switch (tamiya does not), the throttle and steering is more responsive and the darn thing is quicker by a noticeable amount. they both have channel selectors on the remotes as well as turbo button and the channels are identical so I can use either remote with either car as long as the correct channel is selected.

CJ: you sure it wasnt this one? Image car charges on the controller and it's white with blue buttons instead of blue with white buttons but its close lol.

just a heads up :-)

Um. I'd hate to diagree with you, normally. But that's not quite right.

Bottom of the car - "Q-steer copyright Tomy made in China"
front & back of the controller- same as above
in the printed material, and on the box are statements that these are "Manufactured under liscence from Tamiya" and Tomy etc.

I am not saying they are not different than the earlier versions, but these seem as legit as the Microsizers were to the Tomy Bits. :???:

Oh, and I just had to pick one up at the nearest TRU..........Okay two..... I got the Hotshot and the Boomerang.
They had 4 of the 5 there - the Frog was missing.
The front steering and suspension is wierd, and looser than I expected.........
but pretty damn cool little bugger :-)

15 bones, I'd say get at least one, if anything but to show some support for the micro hobby.
I'll be getting the other two for the kids........ um yeah that's it. For the kids.

Holy crap! I just looked at the TRU site and they have HPI touring cars now...ok, so they wanted about twice as much as they are worth, but eventually they'll clear them out. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.js ... Id=3458972 Also, if you read the description you'll notice they are from "HIP" racing...oh well, I didn't really expect the add's writer to know what they were anyway.

So we have Tomy/Tamiya Q-steers, ShenQiWeis, and SpinDirect?

That seems to be the size of it, I really want one or two of the ShenQiweis but I know as soon as order they will be on sale at half price. I guess if they don't get cleared out in a month or so I'll have to break down and get one. OldTamiyaphile on R7R who had a thread about them. He got two or three and had some nice shots of them. http://ripper7racing.com/r7rforums/show ... 542&page=2
