bit/ zip zap half track.

General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

You could, or you could fix the front wheels so they don't turn (from side to side) and use the tank steering.

I already covered that, check page 1. Wire the motors in Parallel off your drive channel. (Since you're doing a Cars/Transformer, ignore all that I said about track braking.) It may take swapping motors to Bit/ZZ or a trim pot to make it run straight.

Be advised: Most papercraft stuff is NOT ENGLISH. Spanish and Russian seem to be the big users, so some guesswork required to find it.
Build it paper FIRST.
With a good papercraft file, it'll probably only take a day or so to rough out the body. Corners take a little planning unless you want to miter all edges. The more detail you want the longer it takes. Carve in or building add-on stuff takes bloody forever!

2 on this page, not USA but I don't know what you want.

A while back I started on a half track. These 1:1 conversions are reasonably popular in Japan during the winter months, which is what I based mine on.

I used a Super Slicks front end and a Takara tank. The main thing that surprised me was that it actually drove just like a car. If I moved the battery over the tracks, it would understeer, and when moved forward it would oversteer

Unfortunately the rubber tracks cracked after a few weeks so I never did finish it.

That's a wickedly cool halftrack!

What length treads does it use?

After cutting it down, the tank bogie is 20mm axle to axle. Rubber bands crack quite quickly, I would cast some silicone tracks with paddles.

Or,one day, I might cast some individual resin track links. That or maybe buy some 1/76 ones, I know you can get 1/35 links, not sure about 1/76. If anyone knows of a kit with individual links or a resin conversion set LMK. That would be cool :D
