Q-steer buggy steering question. Escort Cosworth

Post by frizzen »

Q-steer buggys, has anyone done much to improve steering?

I remember someone had done a Dual cell, and said the extra power helped with steering some, but was pretty vague beyond it's "Mo' betta"

I'm taking a Quad bodied airhog branded Q-buggy, which has the really wide tire offsets and tall tires, punching the wheelbase to about 2.3 inches and dropping on a 3.8 inch long rally Escort Cosworth slotcar body.

If I can't fix the steering coils and get good results out of dual cell q-steer board,

What are my other options moving up into like cheapy all in one rx/esc with onboard or not 3 or 5 wire servo?

1. double cell will increase the steering power, beyond that you could wind your own steering coils.(fatter wire) the q steer has the steering coils (electro magnets) laid side by side. the microsizers have the steering coils on the opposing sides of the magnet. much better imho.

2. stronger magnet, look for a rare earth magnet to replace the stock one.

3. try one of the pcb's that has a motor for steering, (tank steering) you can use an exsisting tx laid out for a car so long as it's the same frequency. you may need to play with the polarity of the motors. you'll need to marry this front end to the back end of your choosing.
