depends on how thick you lay down the first coats of paint.
I take it you masked windows or something?
if so, touch your finger to the masked part of the car (so you don't ruin the paint job on the body if paint is too tacky)
if it feels tacky at all, it's not ready

Excellent advice, Cabo. That is a good guideline, that it should be dry to the touch, but I just wanted to add, if you lay your coats
too thick, your drying time will be much longer. It may not even dry completely, and ending up scratching, chipping, or rubbing off easily.
If your coat is not dry to the touch in about 5-10 minutes (for Enamel, that's what Rustoleum is, a little longer for laquer) then your laying them too thick, and need to lay thinner coats, to ensure the paint will cure completely before you start playing.
