Are you 'hardcore'?

Back in high school, when I was was little skate punk, there was this thing in the punk scene with calling everyone a poser. You know the real poser was that guy that wore eyeliner, and listened to Gene Loves Gezebel last week, and suddenly got a mohawk, and leather jacket, and is all about the Sex Pistols this week, but it was getting out of hand where everyone was calling everyone a poser. A few people that didn't know me would try to call me a poser. Well here I am 20 years later, 33 yo, and I'm still hardcore, and all about my punk roots. So where they at now? Only a few of them turned out to be truly 'hardcore'.
So what's that have to do with bits? Well when I first got on the forums there was a lot people that were like, 'I found them first, I'm sick of all the trendies', and I'm over here like, 'Well gee guys it's not like I didn't know about them, my wife spent the month of September in the hospital, near death, and we spent the remainder of the year trying to get our budget in order. So sorry if I'm not one of the cool kids that got the cool toys before Christmas.'
Well it's almost a year later, and where are they? Where the heck did all them trendies go? Seems bits and ZZs are last years cool present, and the Xmod boards are slammin' while the bit ones seem to be fizzling.
Well, I bought an Xmod, but bits are still my number one priorty. Like punk rock, I found something of myself in these cars, and they will be with me to the end.
So who's with me, who's 'hardcore'? Who's still gonna be here in 2005?

I ain't goin nowhere. I've been into RC for about 20 years. It started off with 1/10th electric, I then moved on to 1/8th gas cars , and finally micros. What makes these cars so cool is that you can race them anywhere, modify them without having to take out a second mortgage, and when you're done racing...put them in your pocket.
I had to take a break from them last year to take care of family business, but I came back with a vengeance. My cars look so much better than my previous endeavors.
Now I can't say that something won't come up that forces me to take a break from the hobby again, but I'll always come back to bits.

I'm here, and staying.
You already know my stance on the micro's and stuff.
I highly doubt I'll switch hobbies.

Yeah, some people wander astray for a while, but the hardcore ones always come back.
Really I know most BitPimps are hardcore about bits, that's why we're da pimps, right?
I was also just thinking, there's gonna be more people new to the hobby popping up over the years. Figure these guys are gonna be less motivated by trends, and more into for the right reasons. It's important that we welcome them to the scene, and help build them to the level we're at, rather than developing that attitude, of calling everyone a poser.

Yep, I guess I'm hardcore.
I play wit my bits/zips hella lot more than I do with my xmod. I never got into rc anything before bits/zips. I gotta admit that the xmods are more than just fun, but they just can't take the place of my true micros. I just wish I had more time to devote to my cars. Damn family always wanting to eat and stay warm.

Yea dude I Aint going anywhere but down to PHX to race yer ass
Hell I still skate (well try to lol) so when you say you "were a Skate Kid" I can relate with teh only difference being I still am. Thats one of the reasons I bought this house I am 5 mins away form teh skatepark
Yea there is something about RC stuff that just pulls you in and now with the show on the DYI channel "Radio Controlled Hobbies" its making me think harder about a larger scale car and some airborne rc vehicles.
I just can't wait till the Holidays are over so I have more time

Hey guess what? I live about 5 minutes from a skate park.
I sold my board last year (to buy a bit), but my 3yo somehow managed to score a cool ol' skool board off of one the neighbors. It just needs some grip tape, and I'm back in action.

Nice
Yea I know there is a SkatePark in one of the Malls there. Last time my wife was down there on Biz she saw it(even on a biz trip she has time to hit the mall.....hehe).
Yea I am in the works of setttin up a biz trip for when I return to work, I figured why should I pay for it. All I need it some 2 outfits, quarters for laundry, bits, xmod and booze and we will be all set.
