If you are looking for speed, then you will be most interested in gears. Gears manipulate the output of your motor- balancing top speed vs. faster acceleration, or giving an even mix of both. A gear can't have excellent speed and excellent acceleration at the same time, there must be a trade off.

Don't read too much hype into speed as far as tires are concerned, they don't do much for going faster or slower. They do however affect handling which will in turn affect lap times. So tires are very important and must be tuned to the conditions in which you are driving.

Don't worry too much about the sway bars unless you have lots of experience and would like to test some more combinations of set ups. But even at the experienced level of racing, there is a debate on how much they really affect the handling. To specifically answer your question though, you would only use one at a time depending on the racing conditions, your driving style, and the set up with the rest of the car.

can somebody tell me what each of the sway bars is supose to be used for
cuz my track is going to be very complicated (from looking at the blueprints) with medium straits and 3 hair pin turns

Soft suspension creates oversteer
Hard suspension creates understeer

In the red sway bars, larger holes equals softer suspension. The holes create more flex in the plastic.

It is common to see people use springs for suspension instead of the sway bar, or a combination of both. I don't have any experience with the spring set ups though. I don't know if there really is a difference, or if the cosmetic effect of the springs persuade people to use them.

I have been using the red hard suspension and it's clean and nice but you need a bigger place to "play"... About the springs I can tell anything about them, expect... damn they look really great... Guess you got the picture

acctually they help quite a bit...they reduce flipping,and when you hit a small bumb you dont take a sharp turn to the right or left like you do with the non independent tomy sway bars...and they also offer independent sspension. check out www.rcmod.com they sell sme damn good springs

The teal gear is about the most useful thing in that kit for speed, but it aint worth the price of admission. I found the hard ribbed tires useless for anything other than simulating driving on ice. The 2.2 motor is hardly impressive either.

The red sway bars are kinda cool. They press down on the steering knuckles, and have a spring like effect on the front end. Still though being such a tiny little piece of plastic they again hardly make it worth the price.

Thanks for the tip about rcmods.com!!! I have bought the TOMY suspension set and the most disappointing thing are the tyres. You really can't do any sharp turn with them because you slip even before starting to turn The small red suspensions are a bit better than the original, at least I kinda like that "spring effect" they almost give ya
Now I gotta look for a spring suspension to test it out and throw away those small red bars... just kidding

these cars are so small and simple ( i mean not mechanicaly complexed) i dont really think the change with suspension is noticable, in theory it should create under or over steer.. but i think its so minute that you cant really tell. but i havent really tried them, im just guessing. gears are a big deal though.

take it from me, suspension works damn well! i can go off road as a result

That's the thing, becuase these cars are so small every little thing makes a big difference. Even body weights that vary by a gram make a differance.

Exactly. Ever notice some cars seem to flip easier than others?

Here's how the sway bars effect the car. See, these cars have no differential. Which means if the rear end is hooking up you're gonna make wider turns, if there is not enough traction for the rear end to hook, then the lack of a diff will cause the rear end to spin out, but the design of the car compensates for the lack of a diff. When you slow down for a corner, the inertia shifts to the front of the car, because you are turning it becomes focused on the outside corner, causing it to dive, lifting the inside rear wheel. Allowing for sharper turns.

If you lower a body so far that it prevents the suspension from moving, you'll notice that you'll be making drastically wider turns. I've had to shave out the inside of hood to allow some movement, and that fixes the problem.

i really wouldnt put all of that stuff on. The motor that came with it was the same one that came in my microsizer turbo. Also i messed the he11 out of my steering knuckles and it has never recovered
