The Boss and the 'Cuda

Post by Bird »

With everyone buying these new muscle-car SE's and postin up the pics, I've been itchin' to get in on the action, but I'm pretty satisfied with the performance of the one I already have.... so I'm holding out for the GTO to buy another SE. But when I went to the Shack to get my X-mod last week, they had one of these sets left, and I couldn't pass it up.

The Cuda is kinda boxy like the Challenger body. It's like Dodges are already boxey, then they take two of the more aggresivly styled models, and make them boxey. That frustrates me.

Still a cool looking body though, and I dig those hubcaps.

The Mustang looks great. I'd like to see that black with gold Mach 1 stripes.

Well, thanks for showing those to me, now I gotta have 'em. :(

DarkTari, it's a body set. Comes with the 2 bodies, the hubcaps, 2 sets of tires, and 2 motors, the red and the purple, and they are the new style endbell. $12.99. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for more body sets like this. Maybe the Chevelle and another, the Torino and hey... the Shack should do Huggy Bears' Lincoln, and make a Starsky and Hutch set... that would be too cool.

CrazyDave, thats funny that you dig the black and gold Hertz look... I have a '75 Mustang II coupe that some previous owner installed a cobra hood scoop and chin spoiler on... it's black with gold stripes... a few years back it was the nicest fake Cobra around, but I lost interest(parts availability on II's is lacking) and it now sits covered in the back of my driveway. I may get around to messing with it again someday... I need to find the polaroid pic I have of it behind my dads house circa '95, when it was at its best. Me and sg219 used to caravan around when I had the 'Stang runnin' and he had the pimped out '75 Valiant... good times.

I agree CrazyDave. Have you seen the RC Muscle Machines? I like their muscle car bodies way more. If you haven't seen them yet, I can post a pic but they pretty much look like the die cast series.

Both bodies are beautifully made. I love my Boss, but the caps for it suck. I slapped on the camaro muscle/torque thrust rims, and it looks sweet. BTW, they finally painted the center of the rear axles!!!!!! It finally looks right!

I just got mine, and I love them. I dig the wheels that come with the 'Cuda, the wheels that come with the Mustang are just ok.

These sit kinda high in the front. Both these chassis are the ones that my Camaro and Chevelle bodies sat on, that have the front tabs lowered for that nice slant, but these bodies on the same chassis are sitting a tad high in the front. Not much room left in there either, I already broke off the bracket and mounts for the light's electrics.

...and the 'Cuda is hacked out in the back. Does yours look like this? (anybodies)

The 'Cuda does have this cool 2 piece shaker hood though.

Both of my bodies are hacked out like that. Dave, I know you have the Yenko/SS wheels. Put 'em on the 'stang, as they make the awesome looking (and very well built) body even better. What the worst that can happen, you take them off? Oh, Dave, look closely at all parts. Both cars' front bumpers are separate pieces, the stang's spoiler and rear bumper are 2 different pieces, the cuda's, shaker is a different piece, as is it's bumpers. BTW, for people who can't get a look at these bodies, the bumpers cover up those unsightly tab holes!!!!!! Also, I think that the Boss' black highlights should of been in primer black, like the real one. Anyways, I think that these are the best ZZ bodies I've ever seen.

Yeah, my 'Cuda is like that in the back, too. I guess it must be for clearance if they're all like that. Was your front bumper loose? I have to glue mine, it doesn't want to stay on.
I'm glad you put up better pics, so everyone can get a better feel for the colors. I don't have a digital cam of my own yet, and my lighting experiments with sg219s' camera made the colors come out funny.
Ain't it the truth about the 'Cuda hubcaps? I think they are the best lookin' ZZ caps yet.

I broke down and got the Chevelle last night. Haven't even opened it yet(got a "broken" Shen at the KB next to the Shack for $5, been tinkerin' with that), but I'm still keepin' my fingers crossed that the Goat will be available in a body set.

Yeah I forgot to mention that the bumpers are separate pieces, and cover the tab slots. The Chevelle is like that too.

I know you're askin' Bird, but I think I can help you out here.

These are not complete cars, this is a tune up set, with the bodies, motors, gears, etc.

As to how they perform, I tested them in my portable wind tunnel and found out that I'm full of shit.
