So is anybody still interested anymore?

General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

So is anybody still interested anymore?

Post by crazydave »

Ok, so in the early days, evryone was like, if bits were proportional, that'd be great. We all got excited over the SE before it came out, and it seems a lot of people gave up on the hobby and moved Xmods, when the SE didn't live up to our expectation. Many of us at bPs reverted back to our bits.

But now proportional technology is getting more practical.

Here Son_Gokou turns us on to a link which points out some resistors that can be jumpered in the SE, that combined with Cyborg_Zero's voltage bypass mod, this opens up the potential for the SE, and makes it a very enjoyable cars. I'm surprised more people aren't picking up on this. If I write a clearer tutorial in layman's terms, is anybody gonna use it? Do you guys think that this would help build interest in the hobby?

Then you guys know the Germans are way into this stuff and we're always one step behind them, but they're apparently up to something cool over there, Sinned has recently reported of a SE clone that perfroms even without FETs, and then he's posting this video of a car that's obviously proportional, and fast, but he's saying it's a stock Panther chassis. Obviously there's something going on, I think he just means he got the electrics into a stock chassis. What's up Sinned? What the heck are you guys doing over there?

So does anyone still give a damn about proportional bits by this point?

if its just tweaking a few resistors and crap id probably attempt this stuff. i love the ses on my floors but they just aint all that fun cuz of the slowness. if you can make them bark dave id play with them daily.

bits/zips was a fad for the most part. the few hardcore will stick around but since bitpimps is the only english forum for bits that wasnt based around making $$ the rest went to xmods to follow the trends and make their bucks.

theres a few people around dave who appreciate the little shit.

It would be a great thing if they wern't so much.

You can go buy a Shen, or any other clone or bit for around $10-15 bucks (sometimes cheaper) and then you have the ZZSE @ $25, which puts a consierable dent in the pimp money. If the technology got better and by better I mean smaller, so that it wasn't like drivin' a hopped up 4x4 bit, I think it would be great. The ZZSE's have that weird high stance and is just plain scary to work with in my opinion being so exspenive for such a little thing and hard to replace or cross-over with other cars and their parts.

Maybe for some of you more expearianced people this isn't the case, but if you just wanna have fun and chop things up and glue and putty them back together, good ol' Bits are still the way to go. :-)

I'd love to see a nicely biult full proportional Bit for about $15-20 or LESS in order to be able to buy and use and abuse the way I do with bits and Xmods now. The only reason I throw the Xmod in here is because you can get them cheaper that ZZSE's if you know where to look.

One last thing....If someone would make a bit like an Xmod and make it good enough, I would be willing to pay $30-40 for it because of the interchangability of it and the limitless options you could do because of the ability of total dismantlement. Unlike bits and other 1:64th cars now, they aren't made to be totally dismantled like an Xmod and they are tough to work with when you do dismantle them because of size limitations and the ability to adapt other parts to them. But in the case of Xmod type bit, I think that would be the coolest thing since CD-R's.

I'm sidetracked with Mini-Zs a little bit right now (I think I can speak for SuperFly too)... we tend to go in cycles. The xmod took us away from the little ones for a few months, but we came back to Bits in full force. A tutorial for FET-modding an SE is the kind of thing that pulls me back to the little ones... something new to learn. Even if I didn't get to it for a month or two, I'd really appreciate the tutorial.

I like my SEs, too... but, yeah, they could be faster. I'm not super-comfortable messing around with the transistors on the really tiny stuff just yet, so I'm using the bigger cars for practice... my heart is in the smaller stuff, though.

These "pantherchassis" that Sinned keeps showing have me totally wanting one, but he never says how we can get them... but, check this post of his from the other day on MRCC out:

http://www.microrccenter.com/forum/inde ... opic=26584

Now, the question is, if he is willing to trade a modded Panther for a bunch of new ZZ stuff, how much cash would it take to get him to send a stock one? :???:

I really would like to get my hands on one of those.

I forgot the link.

All the info for FETing SEs is there, but I found it bit confusing and misleading in parts. I think someone needs to write a clearer tut, so if the interest is there, which it seems to be, I'll do it.

Here's another thing, I understand many would be leary of experimenting on the SE, because they are more expensive than bits. I've killed a couple before I got a clue what I was doing with them.

Because of the risk factor involved, and the extra cost of shipping both ways, I don't feel totally comfortable having everyone send me their cars.

What do you guys think a pre-modded SE would be worth to you? Would you be willing to pay $40-$50, to make it worth my time and effort?

If the technology got better and by better I mean smaller, so that it wasn't like drivin' a hopped up 4x4 bit, I think it would be great. The ZZSE's have that weird high stance
The bodies just sit high because of the lights, it's pretty easy to remove the lights, and tab lower the chassis, but I've found with a little ingenuity, you can get them pretty damn low with the lights.

welp, I'm pretty sure everyone knows my stance.
I have yet to even buy an xmod or mini-z.

I was very skeptical of the zips, then se's came out, kinda cool, but still liked my bits better.
after driving a fet'ed se (payaso's), I dug them more.
now they share garage space with my bits.

I've got many of my own reasons why I stick with what I do, but overall it comes down to; them being fun for me and the stuff I do with them.

I'd personally love to see a tutorial.
granted I might not try it for awhile, but it's there if want to, and I know it would spark some interests in others as well.

good call crazydave

I am kinda new to this scene but i was always into RC stuff since my first AeroHopper. I love new techonology and modding. Thats what lead me here. You guys were always coming up with new shit for the bits and pimp ass body mods and paint jobs. Never knew what a FET was till I came here (Mech-E here). You peepz never cease to amaze me

I for one would definately pay you CD for one, or even chip in a few bucks (or donor cars) to help support the cause.

Cabo, and myself were just talking about this the other night. I was telling him that out of all the R/C cars I have, and I have alot of just about all scales from 1/10 to 1/70.

My absolute fav to date is my fetted SE with the Cuda body that hue inspired..

I have about close to $80 in it, and it runs like it. I don't mind paying extra for something I'll use, and have fun with, so I'd gladly pay for one from Dave.

I've come to realize in the past month that I really, and truly suffer from R/C addiction, and just can't help myself anymore, so I might have a biased opinion...

I doubt any SE will crush mine though, cause I'll drive circles around you guys....lol

Bring it on fellas.. There goes my humbe side again :-)

Great idea Dave.

You mean You got about $80. invested into a ZZ SE? What did You spend it on? a lot of FET's? I would be willing to pay that much for a SE that was premodded, but I would have to get up the funds first. So I don't know.

dude i have seen a fet inpictures but would not know were to buy a fet or what kind of fet, I have an se and never drive it, i love the steering but its a dog, heavy as hell and torgue sucks.

The lil bits have cells that are the same size so dual celling is not a problem, u cant dual cell an se, u could but were would u get another cell, buy another se and use it for parts.

I would love to do something with my se, i would totally get into it if i could get a fet and have a scheme to look at that is fool proof.
