Just an opinion about being a contributer to a forum...

General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

Just an opinion about being a contributer to a forum...

Post by sg219 »

This is my reply to a post at R7R. I thought it would be relavant here too.

I have learned alot from THIS forum and others too.

Thanks to everyone for their sharing and helpfulness!!

They cant just ban you without it reflecting on the progress of the forums.

Sg219, Rawhide, Me, Pomme, Skyline Driver, Boneyskin....

Were all replaceable, we don't excel at one thing. Say MRCC banned Dennis L, that would result in a horrible aftermath. No one else can fit that niche of crazy German body modder. LBRC isn't replaceable, hes the lithium expert with Iwavers, no one could replace him.

As much conflict as I've had with you I'll put down my guard and admit that your obviously one of the smartest people I've meet regarding electronics while on these boards.
I see your point USA, but...

Bill can go blank a blank for all I care!!!

Plus, who is to say who excels at what. You don't know what people have going on, whether it be in their head or on their workbench!!!

I have 219 Xmods and I like to rip them apart and try different things. Me not posting what I do and when I do it, doesn't make me a slacker or someone who doesn't excel at something.

Everyone has their own personality and contributions. It is up to the FORUM READERS to decide who is the most helpful and innovative with their thoughts and designs.

Mostly it doesn't matter who has the biggest and baddest.

It's who is willing to share and help others to have the biggest and baddest!!!!

Perfect example is Ph2t's development thread at Ausmicro.com, he didn't hold back info for his benefit, he helped everyone to learn. By doing so he gained the confidence and backing of some people that will help him talk about and spread the knowledge, not necessarily the product, but the knowledge of it.

One day when you get into MGT. somewhere, you'll see that its about how you can help bring people up in the world and promote them, and not how you bring yourself up, because that is how you bring yourself up, by helping others. Its not like that everywhere, but it is a general business philosophy.

I understand that this is a hobby, but if you take it seriously enough, you can make a POSITIVE and HELPING name for yourself very quickly and easily.

Look at me for example........look at the people at BitPimps.....look at the people here at R7R......notice, it is up to the individual person to decide on who is the one to turn to and help them.

Who are they?

What do they contribute?

What are the outcomes?

Who has been helped?

Have you learned anything from someone on the forums?

What I'm tryin' to say is that, however insignificant you may feel someone is, you are just as insignificant.

There will be people after me and EVERYONE ELSE that will come along and innovate something.

Does that make the people that came before any less of a influence?

You make the forum just as important as the next sign-up does!

People come and go, but the information and knowledge they pass on will last forever!! No matter how small of a contribution it may be.

This turned out to be longer than I intended, but I hope everyone can take away something.

To come across that certain forum members are expendable and others are not is just straight out wrong, and to call out names only adds insult to injury.

Fact is, a forum is nothing with out people. All types of people with all kinds of ideas. That's what makes it interesting.

When I came into this hobby I had lots of big ideas, but it seemed like people didn't want to listen to me, cause I was new to bits. I had some electronics knowledge, I knew of MOSFETs, but would have never considered trying to stick them in a bit, Sinned got me curious about that, and then I learned. Now some might say I'm not expendable, but was I last year? Gee, what would have happened then, if I was never even given a chance?
...crazy man, crazy...dig it.

Dave's right !

Everybody gets something outta this. I've been here for quite a while
and I can learn from a newbee, whether it's something new and innovative
or just a "Hook-Up", it's something! And as long as we have
those that like to learn, teach, or just inform, we have a Forum

I have to say that I have learned way more than I have contributed, mainly because most of the ideas that pop into my head, most people are already doing, and my time was very limited. I'm in no way an electrical genius. I like to play around with it some, but most of the mods I have done are appearance based. I have done the occasional dual cell (who hasn't ?) and some other cool electrical work, but nothing that could touch what pioneers like ph2t and others have done. But when I get pm's(no matter how stupid) I give them the best help I can offer.
To think that someones opinions and ideas are obsolete is wrong and unwarranted. Everyone has their own way of doing things, and no idea is stupid. Without ideas, we wouldn't be here.

Torque didn't mean anything bad, and he did change his opinion and apologize in the thread later on. Also that is a big compliment to Ph2t. O, and SG your not expendable. Talon is. :-D

and anyways, who says "valued contributors" shouldn't be banned? i don't do anything useful at wgu but stir up the christians from time to time. if the big boys told me to fuck off i'd have to take it on the chin. same goes for people with no mods under their belt that raise hell for fun.
i used to be cool

Ya, no one is expendable.

I definitely have learned alot and it is finally all starting to come together and I'm getting the opportunity to try them all. It's just the, practice, motivation, and time needed to finish and produce.

If anything, I help out with the Australia Export/Import hobby. :-)

Always glad to help out where I can.

I might not be totally into certain aspects, but I sure try pay attention when certain people speak and do something new. (Like EFHutton, for those of you who remember those commercials.)

Yeah, there are always bad apples that need to be banned. The bad apples may have good knowledge to pass on, but if there an asshole, then I'd rather not listen to thier knowledge. For example, if Crazydave were an asshole :-) and ended up getting himself banned, then I bet you money some body would step up and take on the mods he does. The fact that he does the mods and makes sweet ass rides probably limits any impact a copy may be, so why do it if it's already been done. But I don't give anybody props until I know a little about them. A good example would be Chewy. His ego is already too big. I wouldn't want to make him more annoying, even if he found a new mosfet that double the torque of the current mosfets used.
Cause I ride around town on my low-rider bicycle.

this thread is pointless as none of you are as important as me.
