Yeah, you'll regret not spending a bit of money on a digital camera. That's just one of the things in life that you have to put a little money into. Otherwise, you'll get sick of it and then go buy a good one later and end up paying again.
Also, some tips; optical zoom is normally better than digital zoom. Get a camera with optical zoom. Digital zoom sounds nice, but takes horrible pictures. Also, don't settle for anything less than 3 megapixels. 1.2 megapixels is cheap, but a 35mm disposable camera takes better pictures. I personally don't settle for anything less than 5 megapixels. Limited video ability is also a very cool thing.
For bits, the thing to look for is digi cams that can take "portrait" pictures. Most cams do, but keep an eye on that. You don't want to be stuck with one that doesn't, because you may not be able to focus on a bit without it.

Also try http://www.tigerdirect.com.
Yes, I agree. Spend the cash for a decent one and you'll still love yourself in the morning. I wish I would have spent about $50 more for one myself. Now I have to put off getting a new and better one for a little while longer. (....or you can post pics like some of the ones in my gallery )

Well, I hear from the grapevine that CVS is gonna be selling Vivitar 3.2mp digicams for $60 (after $10 rebate) this Friday (Black Friday sales).
I can't speak to their quality, hell I can't say shit cause I don't know nuttin about Vivitar digicams...But if you're THAT tight on a budget, then this might be the right way to go.
I have no clue which Vivitar model it'll be, but I'm sure you could stop in to your local CVS and find out easy enough.
Here's the Vivitar page for their 3mp cams:

Good luck.

Go here: http://www.dpreview.com/....and here: http://www.steves-digicams.com/
Look around....read, figure out what you want....then look for the best price. you will be much happier if you make an informed decision instead of buying the cheapest cam. One word of advice if you buy through the net....stay away from NY City "retailers". Many of them are shady.

Dude, you will regret it if you get a cheap digital camera. Believe me, you will most likely take pics of more than bits... But if you are REALLY only going to take pics of bits, then what about those disposable, $11 1.3 megapixel digi cams?
Downsides to those are:
only 1.3 megapixels...
only 25 shots...
Upsides:
they're cheap!!!
I also read somewhere they can be hacked but I wouldn't exactly endorse that... *cough cough* cops *cough ahem*
Well, my view on megapixels, is that 5.0-5.5 megapixels is GREAT, anything over that is overkill IMO. My friend has a 6.8 mega, I really can't tell the difference between my photo's and his, and I have really good eyes.

Megapixels do not necessarily determine the quality of the photo. What they are is the size of a picture. If you're taking pic for the web, that's completely irrelevent since they will be more than likely optimized at 72 pixels per inch.MattPaintballer wrote:Well, my view on megapixels, is that 5.0-5.5 megapixels is GREAT, anything over that is overkill IMO. What that is relevant to is print quality and how large you can print your pictures, while maintaining that quality. 2.0 megapixels is adequate for your average 4x6 print.

I have a Sony DSC-85. Its a decent cam...4 megapixels, lots of manual adjustments if I like. Its also built solid like a brick and heavy....thats good or bad depending how you look at it. Its a model that came out several years ago and you would have trouble finding one.Customizer wrote:what kind of cameras do you guys use?
