If MicroSizers stopped......
If Tomy is at the end of it's Bit-CharG line, and MicroSizer stopped producing cars, then why did we never see this........?

True Dat! Well at least an American Company is keeping our hobby alive and even though the products aren't always the very best, the technology is top notch. Proportional 1/64, who would've thought! and for $25.00 ???? Monster Trucks, RS may not have been the 1st but from what I heard, they're the best. And who else does American Muscle Cars?
They screw up once in a while (Viper!!!!) but it's all the new we got left. So now it's Collectables that will be on my list to attain and some of the stuff that never hit the American Shores.

For me the hobby never hit home. Limited places carried Microsizers, and most of them still have a few left. I never saw any NSXes or any or new releases this year. Just a few left over from last Christmas. I'd snag them, but they're full price, and there's still clearance deals on the net.
I don't know about else where, but I really think the biggest problem is that first wave, when everything was sold out before Christmas, Lots of cheap dome clones in the mall that year, and from my experience, most were crap. Then there was a batch of Microsizer Pro and Sports that hit that toy stores with steering knuckles of uneven lengths, causing the steering to be too tight in one direction, and too wide in the other. I know this was a widespread problem, because I've FET modded more than a half dozen of these cars with the same problem for people.
I really think the reason why Zip Zaps have won out over their smaller bit counterparts, in America, is because a lot of people, and kids in particular, just experienced another cheap toy, and blew them off.
It's like we know what cars to buy for which parts, because we've been around the block with these cars, but Joe Blow is just gonna walk into a toy store, have a 50/50 chance of picking up a piece of crap, and being done with it.

I got caught in that 1st wave at Xmas too when Micro's were nowhere to be found cause they couldn't keep them in stock. I ended up tracking down and getting a Z-Car from the Discovery Channel Store for $20.00, then got the 1st generation ZZ Mustang (when they finally got them in) for $20.00 which just got blown away by the Z-Car. So then I hit the web and learned what else was out there and what to buy. Found the MS at TRU (much later) which at the time was going for $34.00 which I was happy get one so price was not an object. All clones at that time were goin for $19.00-$25.00 at the mall carts (dem damn vultures)
Now, I look for an average price of around $7.00, and clearances. One clone that I luv, the Rally Racer (rebadged She Qi Wei) from KB Toys started out at $19.99, then went down to $14.99, then down to $9.99 but won't go any lower. I heard that some Wal-Mart's that carried them were clearing them out for $5.00, then went down to $3.00. Of course the one's in my area never stocked them.
I still want that CLK pretty bad, but how high will I go........

I believe that CLK was only released in Germany. Check out some of the German bit stores. You can probably get one, but it will be VERY expensive.
I will be sorry to see Tomy get out of the game personally. I know I have a bit of a bias, but I prefer the Tomy cars over the ZZ's. Every Zip I bought I ended up taking back. Now granted, that's only like 4. But I have over 50 Tomy chassis' now, and I've only recently come across a dead one. It was a MS Pro that I bought a while back and just recently opened. It's a parts car now.
I understand that I have probably just been extraordinarily lucky, but a failure rate of 1 in 50+ for the Tomy cars has me sold. A 4 in 4 for the ZZ's scared me off, possibly for good, though I understand they have apparently improved their QC.
I'm 8 for 8 with Shen's too, but 0 for 4 with Charge-n-Go's just like ZZ's.

yea actually I'm partial to Tomy as well, just that little bit of extra quality that I seem to notice.
Microsizers were good, cheaper and easier to get so that was a huge plus.
Took my awhile to get in to ZZs, hated the first versions about as much as I hated those cannonball clones.

Dear Life Cereal, Where do you get off? Part of a balanced breakfast and delicious? Who do you think you are? By now you may have guessed I'm speaking ironically and have nothing but good things to say about what you do. Life cereal do not change a thing.

I am really hoping that I can get my hands on the Automodellista set. I have wanted one since they came out. Hopefully I can get a set before they disappear for good.
