Ahh the memories. I remember the first time I saw a bit was at work at Circuit City. Two of the guys from Car Audio bought em off ebay, must have been early 2002 or late 01. I was so stoked about them but the $40 each was tuff to swallow. That and I was still scared of ebay at the time. :sad: I remember that the 3.0 and 2.0 would alwasy come free w/ the deals yet they always seemed to be shit. Hehe, we would race the crap outta them when work got slow in the install bay. Who knew it would all lead up to this madness. 8-)

One of my fondest memories will always be Christmas of 2001, I was introduced to my new obsession. My wife got me a Blue WRX, and my daughter a White GT-R. I must of played with that car for months before I came across the hobby forums. I was a little apprehensive about modding it, but I started seeing all these little things being turned into works of art. Having experience in 1/10th scale, automobile refinishing, and static modeling helped out big time. I think my first mod was the always classic tab lowering, and eventually the dual cell mod.

I am confident in saying that I will be into these until I die........or run out of money, whichever comes first. :cool:

yup, payaso went on about these things for a month and I finally gave in and got one. 1st was a cannonball clone that sucked nuts to no end.
I almost never got in to these little things just because of that piece of crap.
I ended up ordering the real deal Holyfield and took it to Florida with me and sat at payaso's kitchen table doing my first mods on my first real bit.

It instantly got dubs (pullback rears all around), a new rare earth magnet, the baddest assed dual cell this side of the Mississippi (2 clone 150 mahs), and a paint job.
My favorite car hands down, top performing too.

Later in my bit career, I took it back down to Florida for another meet-up with the clown and it got ganked along with my camera at god damned Bennigans. I hate Bennigans.

Are we telling first bit stories again? Has it really been that long already, seems like we just did this yesterday. :lol:

Well I'll try to get it over with quicker this time.

Wanted a Microsizer, but it seemed like too much $$. Wanted a Zip Zap, there was none. Got a Cannonball, it blew chunks, end of story.

Then I was one of the lucky kiddies that got me a Zip zap for Christmas, better than a Canonnball, but slow as hell, even with the Cannonball motor, that what led me to the forums, and that's what led me to my first bit.

I got the bit just because the PCB could handle a 3.8. I went with a Bit Char-G over a Microsizer, because for $5 more I could get the Skyline set and have 2 extra bodies to paint. This car is still to this day, my best handling car, it still tracks perfectly straight with the steering adjuster centered, has the grippiest tires, and with the 3.8 I ordered with it, it was already too fast. It's always been my favorite micro.

I just restored it last month. I had repaired the back tab over and over, until it snapped all the way off. So it sat retired for a long time, almost a year. Last month, I made a brand new tab from scratch that is stronger than the stock one was. I pulled the 150mah cell, and put a Tomy cell, from a KITT Racer back in it, and included the gunmetal looking heatsink, since it fit with theme. I also put a Bit Char-G Motors pink endbell 3.8 in it, like it had originally. It had been FET modded somewhere along the line, so now it's even faster.

Here it is, my original bit, almost exactly the same as it stood 2 years ago.

My two top moments were when I finally ditched my bensu (bensu's so crappy, it doesn't deserve to be capitalized) clone for a decent one (LXX), and threw a DKS 3.4 (tough little motor, and if I could find it, I'd still use it). My other top moment was getting my ZZ back from Micro Amps and discovering the art of the wheelie. The only thing wrong with it is that the battery's shot and the axle's loose now, but it's a year old, so no complaints there.

It's amazing what people have come up with to do to a bit. I remember first seeing Betty's full suspension bit and being completely awestruck. I think everyone here has done something to advance the hobby, whether it was a little or a lot. CD pushed the envelope with that little 5.5 volt monster Super Stocker. I've seen some paintjobs on here that lead me to wonder if you have size changing machines so you can bring your cars up to 1:1 scale, paint them, then shrink them!

The ZZMT deserves an honorable mention in this post, since I had drifted away from bits and it dropped me right back into them. My li-pos should be in in a couple days, so I'll be turning one Monster into a speed demon and the other into a crawler.

Bits were the first R/C I took seriously, and I'm happy they got me addicted to the hobby. I have a feeling that it did the samething with many other kids my age, and they have since outgrown them or broken them, knocking them right out of the hobby. I have an RC18T in the mail probably because of bits. :lol:

This is one of my favorite Skylines Dave, it just looks so "Street". I have a red one that is still totally stock (beleive it or not?), hell I got a whole lotta Bits that are still totally stock......
