General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

That buggy is sweet. Looks like he did the racing legends hotrod mod and got himelf some of them bodies. I didn't think racing legends was selling them bodies. Shit I didn't even think they were still up and goin. :???:

Wow they are still in bussiness. Check the viper and clk bodies.

Holy crap, now that's how it is supposed to be done (take note RS) No doubt tho that either shell would require some major chassis chopping. Sick, just sick...

They're slot cars... those chassis have a way lower profile.

That is true hue. Still though a lil chopping of the chassis is all. :-)

More than a little... It'd be a bitch to fit a bit steering box under the front end of either of those cars (clk & viper). I ain't sayin' it can't be done, only that it would be a major re-working of a bit chassis to make 'em sit like they do in those pics. I was also just making the point that the cars you linked to were indeed slot cars... I thought Finks was looking at those as though they were RC.

Nope, there's more going on than that.

He reconfigured the steering on that hot rod. The steering arm is flipped and centered by a thin piece of plastic. Looks like he's using a couple thin pieces of plastic to give it a little suspension too.

That's thinking. He's definately done more than just chop the chassis, or we all would have done it already. ;)

What're you chicken dave?

I remember seeing the modded hotrod on racing legends a looong time ago and even at one point started my own chassis work. (yall should know by now how fickle I am) It seems to me like a simple rework/chop, oh well.

Those low profile bodies could be possible if ya use the same steering rework as the hotrod, I'm thinking. You could also try a reworked motorised steering bit. Maybe I'm daydreamin or talkin outta my ass here. I know I'll never get to tryin it for myself. :-)

Edit- On further/closer inspection I'm thinking that microsash has done it a lil different than what I remember being done on racing legends. Damn I wish I could navigate that site better.

Edit2- Here we go.....

Yeah, it is a fairly simple rework/chop. That's my point. Designing, and implementing such a scheme is where the tricky part comes in.

But the cool part is we don't have to know German to look at what he did, and get ideas from it. Still gotta give him props for being so inventive though.
