New here,, Check out my full suspension humvee bit!

Post by Sporttracguy »

Some of you may have seen this before on rcmod.com but that site doesnt have a very large active following and i was refered to this site.. You guys really seem to know whats going on with these things.

Anyways, here is my latest bit. I took a stock microsizer pro and cut the chassis in half. I then cut a slot on either side of the seperated chassis.( in the back to front direction, if that makes sense) I then used a paperclip and two pieces of a WD-40 straw to make the suspension. a piece of the straw is epoxied flush in the slot on each side and the paper clip runs though the center and is bent on either side (i hope this all makes sense) This gives me a great "Swivel" to the suspension.

I then added some bead lock style wheels and some lego tires. I used an aluminum coke can to make the skid plates, bumper and the rear bumper. I then decided the stock motor just wouldnt cut it so i modified it to fit an orange superslick motor (about twice the size of the bit motor)..This motor ended up generating alot of electomagnetic interfearance so i had to wire in 3 capecitors to fix that problem.

I did a Tri cell mod to give it lots of power and i use the superslick charger to charge it.

The body is actualy a plastic hotwheels hummer body that i painted with a silver metalic and then a red semi clear candy coat over that with a final clear coat and polish.

Anyways, ill let the pictures speak for themselves,, let me know what you think and if you have any questions

In this picture you can see the major articulation.. All 4 wheels are in contact with a surface.

That body was the origional one that i used before painting a new one

And this is the before and after with that hotwheels before i got my hands on it,, for the record that rear tire that is out of view is actualy touching the table(crazy huh)

Thanks,, Yeah, i had to double up the rear tires and cut out some of the lego tire chevrons to get a bit more grip. Since its only rear wheel drive i need all the traction i can get with the tri cell and the superslick motor. Its also hard to see in these pictures but the top ones had a different tire set up than the current lower shots. Ill try and get a better picture of them later

Dear Life Cereal, Where do you get off? Part of a balanced breakfast and delicious? Who do you think you are? By now you may have guessed I'm speaking ironically and have nothing but good things to say about what you do. Life cereal do not change a thing.

This is the bottom of the current bit before i finished the underside skid plate,,You can see the epoxy on the underside of the bit that i havent ground down yet

Ok, ,and now you can see the origional prototype,,of course my humvee is much cleaner,,,i wasnt sure if it was even going to work

Welcome aboard Pimp! That is one mean lookin H1 !

The chassis set-up is simplicity in motion, takes a great mind to take
a basic idea and translate it to Bit-Omitry 8-)
As CrazyDave said, don't forget our Truck Contest Pimp !
