Ok, i was going to keep this a secret until i was a little farther along but i need some input. Im building a full suspenion bit rock crawler/monster truck and i need to know if a superslick motor or a zzmt motor will be better for torque and power? Im guessing that the MT will be better but i want to make sure. it looks like the magnets have a larger diameter than the SS motor.
I have a 19,000 rpm ss motor or an 18,000 RPM zzmt motor to spair,, what do you think?

if anyone is curious, here is a mock up of what im working on. Keep in mind i just sort of set up the pieces to show you how its turning out. I still need to finish building the shocks and the steering mount and the motor mount and various other parts but its turning out nice.. I will get an up and down suspension as well as a "swivel" for each indipendant tire (sort of like my hummer design) if any of that makes sense

I should have put a coin in there for scale but its the exact same size as the "BigFoot" zzmonster truck body so its bit sized and will be powered with either a dual or a tri cell and a microsizers pro pcb

HM, i had built a internal dual cell chassis today and dremeled it to fit a Orange SS motor and then finally when i took it of the charger for the first run..i was dissapointed in the speed but it was still tourqeyi dont know i proboly did something wrong..any other input?

That hummer bit i made with the suspension has an orange superslick motor in it and it just flies with a tri cell. I had a problem with the electomagnetic interfearance from the new motor so i had to solder in 3 capacitors and that cleaned it right up. You could have a bad connection or the gears may not be quite lined up correctly, or who knows,, ive been very happy with SS motors in my bits so far,, alot more torque than the bit motors.
I think what ill end up doing with this truck is to add another gear in there to give it more torque but ill lose a good deal of my top end,(too much top end in this bugger and ill be on my roof anyway), i suppose we will see,, i havent even got the suspension working correctly yet

jeeze man, you've done a lot of work today.
So how does the suspension perform? Is it stiff, loose, just right, what?

Tell me about it,, i was working on this thing every chance i had. The suspension is suprisingly pretty close to perfect. its maybe a little stiffer than is optimal but its pretty good. Because of the swivel in the suspension and the way i cut the holes for the shocks it works very well. I still have alot of cosmetic stuff to do to it but its really coming along. There were a few points where i was about to give up,, i really didnt think it was going to work.

Update: Been working on it a little today wiring up the steering has been hell. I needed to do something that would protect the steering wires but still let them flex. I ended up taking some thing wire and removing the wire from the casing. I then very carefully fed each pair of steering wires through the insulation and then ran that up through two holes in the chassis to the pcb. Talk about a pain but its done now and i think it will hold up to the abuse quite well.

I also started making a front skid plate/bumper out of some aluminum but half way through making it i looked over and saw a "truck'in" toy with a nice chrome pre runner skid plate/bumper so i decided to pilfer that instead.

you guys are probably tired of me by now but i have todays upgrades. I gave it a new front bumper/skid plate, a full front and back skid plate for the rear axle and started working on running the wires for the steering (cant see that part) They are now protected with some wire insulation and directed upwards.

maybe you could get a little more tourqe if you tryed a 6T pinon on the MT motor, just drill it out a little bit or shove it on for stick a thick pin through the hole

yeah, i was thinking about maybe just adding another gear in there for a serious torque upgrade. I dont have the electronics in there yet (tomorrow i hope) so i havent tested how much torque it has as of right now. Im thinking its probably a good idea anyway though,, If i try this thing with the setup it has now ill probably be on my roof every other second. I cant wait to test this thing!

Just an update, i ran into some problems trying to fit all the batteries and the electronics under that body so my solution was to cut the bed out of the truck compleatly to give me more clearance. Here is a shot of the finished tonneau cover (seems to have moved in the picture and is sticking out a little in the back,, ill fix that when i glue it down,, its a perfect fit!) The holes are there for the light bar that im going to re mount later once the clear coat has cured,, nice and shiny

Ok, its all cured and ready for install,, i just finished mounting the roll bar and lights on there and i think its looking pretty good,,I also painted the running boards more of a gun metal color rather than flat black, i think it helps them stand out a little more.. Next for the electronics

update,, i have a few more bodies im thinking about using for this monster bit...I have very minimal paint work done on them,, nothing like my shiny candy red metalic f-250 but they are on the drawing board,, ill probably stick with the truck but i thought i would show you guys what i was working with,, i think that liberty is going on my zzmt
