Post by Tuner1989 »

Heres my latest project ive been working on. After some work this thing is finally fun to drive. so far it has a locked diff. a stretch a 1:32 escalade body, and spinners. I want to slap a li-poly pack on and put some iwaver electronics, with a hitec-55 in it whenever i get the time/cash.

you need to chop off some of the excess metal around the bottom, and nice work

Great job on the strech. :-o

What betty said and...

How did you lock your diff?

Definately lose some of the extra metal.

To tell you the truth i reallly didnt notice a drastic decrease in handling at all. But then again im climbing the thing all the time :-o

At first i tried locking the diff with lock washers form home depot no:20521
By putting 3 of them in the ball diff. place. It worked for about 5 minutes so i finally ended up opening the diff back up and putting superglue between the lockwashers and on the sides and now its locked for good.

Its amazing how good this thing can climb wiht just a stretch and a locked diff. Its basically unstoppable unless you high center it.

The only challenging part of stretching the ssmt is making sure the gears that drive the rear wheels are meshing good with the gear on the driveshaft i had to go through a good 3 pairs of paper clips of trial and error of the gear being to far in or to far out etc.

And yes i plan on losing some extra metal whenever i get a chance to get off my lazy ass

I got the escalade body for 5.00 at a local ross it also came with a hummer h2 body. It was made by nkok and had working spinners on both cars that can easily be made to fit the ssmt.
