General discussions, new info, and all stuff that's how you say, off the hook. Bit, ZZ, SE, MT, SS... as long as it's micro, it's here.

Z-tanks

Post by Nasphere »

anyone heard of these? awesome little creatures... ive got a Z-cars, Z-craft (hovercraft), and now a Z-tanks... it has an infrared battle system to where when you get hit, your tanks stops working. Its dual celled, dual motors (duh) and its just awesome.

i want to take the battle system board out and put it into my hovercraft to make battle crafts. when you get hit, the lift fan shuts off...

They're made by Atomic Toys in San Diego Ca. which just closed their doors Aug 1 !
All Z-Cars, Tanks, Boats, Planes, whatever may become collectable items.

Yes! I want to know more!
Does the turret rotate? And it is actual tread, and not wheels underneath?

I want to know more about all of the available battle tanks.
But not those shocker ones..... :-?

as you saw, a hand-grenade controller, press a button, lid opens. the tank has REAL treads, geared really low, it would climb over anything but the ground clearance is a little low. the turret rotates, but its tied into the left tread, when it moves, the turret moves left right left, just back n forth a little...

THE SIZE: Bit size!!!! with about 1/8th inch added to either side... small, loud, and fun!!!

ive been asking if anyone has seen or played with the hovercrafts... supposedly ph2t ordered one, no one else knows they exist! dang they are fun if you tune em right. i took the stock battery pack out, squeezed a cell phone battery in, lasts about an hour instead of 10-15 minutes. the main issues with em are they dont last long (run time), they're a little too heavy (they drag a touch in the rear), the charger eats batteries because it has a relay, the fans are off balance and are noisy... i put a cell phone battery in, built a standalone charger, lightened the back a little by taking water-proofing out, and i balanced all the fans... simple, easy fixes.

Soooo anyhow. Z cars are a freakin rip. I only have a controller for some reason that makes sounds and shit, other than that $19.95 each is so 2002. Now the tanks, that there be some interesting shit, time to search ebay.

thanks for the pics, Nasphere.
this tank is totally different from microsizers tank. looks strong and capable.
it is possible to increase clearance by relocating weels lower . i've done this mod on my microsizer tank. easy to make with good result. might work for your tank.

MicroSizer makes a Tank ?

Tru Dat Pimp! Though my Z-Car (which I did buy for $19.99 in 2002) is
my highest milage Micro. I put a Kit 2.6 in dat billy and it runs on short carpet like it was on a track. I use to run it in the office a lot. Not a bad
Micro at all, but not at $19.99 today. I picked up a few 2 years ago for $6.99 at Tues Morn.

DT!!! you are awesome!!! ive got this idea, atomic toys should still be "open". I live about 45 minutes away from SD, maybe i can call, ask if they can sell bulk parts/returns...

THESE TANKS ARE AWESOME!!!
I put a tank PCB in my ZZMT, same frequency, they deliver more amps, they're lighter, they're smaller... and just tonite i was tearing apart another tank cause i bought a couple more, they have the correct gears to make a spider gear BIT differential!! more on that some other time when i can find the time to work on that idea, but seriously, $15 for a 3 channel pcb, IR battle system... its worth it.

http://img366.imageshack.us/img366/4739/15252585os.jpg
what your looking at is the shaft that runs lengthwise for the 2 "spider gears" and on the lid to the left is the axle gear. you will need 2 tanks for both sides... i have to attempt to build one to see if there are any major bugs... i'll keep ya'll updated.
