This looks like it'll be an awesome ride, the chassi makes me drool. I like the hybrid 3-link setup. The size appears to be around 1:43

Thanks. It's about a tire length longer than an mt right now. I'm going to shorten the rear links and try to 3 link the front as well. It's a combo of zz mt, zzse and hot wheels rev ups parts.

The tires are mt swampers that I narrowed and siped ( cut ). I just set it on these for the pics. I'm sure I'll run a set of quad tires when it's done.

I wish I had used a front axle under the transfer case instead of a rear to shorten the wheelbase more. My original intent was to keep it as scale as possible (1/64) but I'm having a hard time fitting everything under the p/u body I'd like to run.

Nice job so far man. Those linkages are tricky, aren't they? I've been hung up on that problem also.

That's because it's not as hard.
In pretty much all the "popular" scales, there are parts, upgrades, etc. to buy.
Not nearly as much in 1/64.
We break our own ground.

I completely agree. I was refering to the fact that it wasn't challenging enough because of plenty of space to work with and make with.
The fact is, I love micro modding because it is more challenging. And the fact that if you make and design something, it is more personalized than what you can buy off the shelf.

Dude, this crawler is gonna rule. Before I was MIA there for a coupla months, I was checkin' out that rccrawler.com joint you hang out at, as well as the vid of fwilly's 4-link ZZMT you posted up... this shit is cool as hell. It's like TTTT without the german factor (not that I don't love that german shit, but I feel like I'd need a PhD in physics and a micro machine shop before I could even think about going there)... I just like that it can be built out of stuff I already have, and that most of it is plastic. Thanks for the cool posts.

Links are proving to be trickier than I thought. I used heat shrink tubing for the link ends and although it works and articulates like crazy it's way too stiff. Looks like it's back to the drawing board. Ended up throwing a driveshaft also. I pretty much expected this and hopefully I can solve it with limiting straps.
When I started I figured the hardest parts would be the transfer case, link set up and the driveshafts. So far all I've got that seems to work well so far is the transfer case. I also have some ideas for custom axles but I'd like to get everything worked out before trying to switch the axles.

Wow, with that kind of ratio it'll run though a whole battery charge before it moves a foot!
