LOL, I was racing bits with hue the other night, and he managed to set a track lap time record (we had just installed the lap timer a few hours earlier), in what we have called "the $50 car." We each made one back in the day, and it consisted of buying a brand new 'boost' bit, a brand-new zipzap, and putting the 2-speed bit PCB into a dual-celled OG zip-zap. We both took the 2-speed pcb from silver Fairlady 350z bits (doh! at least $30 from TE, and one you'd give your left nut to have back in the original package), and ZipZaps were still commanding $20 on sale.Namuna wrote:You paid over $30 for that thang...I'd be thinkin HARD about just taking it out of the box...Let alone MODDING it!

I got one of them $50 cars... well I used a LXX booster board, but with the $10 tiny RC motor that makes it a $50 bit.
I remember questioning my sanity at the time.

Sweet car man.... Anything from Germany is costly...lol
I've got the $70 + ZZse. With the alloys, and the fet mod from micro amps back in the day, and some other goodies.. It runs like it though...
Not to mention it also netted me a custom stretched bit from hue35.
If we weren't sick, we wouldn't be here....lol

Hey if I was not a little nuts I would not be in RC's. I have paid more then that (like ya'll said) back in the day for just a body!Namuna wrote:You paid over $30 for that thang...I'd be thinkin HARD about just taking it out of the box...Let alone MODDING it!
I think it was worth it there are not to many of these out there and there is going to be fewer and fewer. I don't think I will mod it unless I find another one but you can bet it will be out of the box!
My wife is still married to me and has not left me becuse of my RC's so all is good man!

The way a serious hoarder does it is to buy 3; one to keep new in the box and stash in the basement, untouched by human hands (don't even look at it!), one to take out of the box but kept in pristine original condition, and the third one to mod.Bart wrote:I don't think I will mod it unless I find another one but you can bet it will be out of the box!

Then there's the hoarder with "the sickness"... two in the box (one for future sale, just in case it's worth a shitload), two to mod (you always need a backup in case of disaster), and one to keep stock, so you can shoot a side-by-side before and after.SuperFly wrote:The way a serious hoarder does it is to buy 3; one to keep new in the box and stash in the basement, untouched by human hands (don't even look at it!), one to take out of the box but kept in pristine original condition, and the third one to mod.Bart wrote:I don't think I will mod it unless I find another one but you can bet it will be out of the box!

Yeah, and then there's you, who doesn't even know what's in the inventory because it makes you sort of embarrassed and sick to your stomach if you think about it too much.hue35 wrote:Then there's the hoarder with "the sickness"... two in the box (one for future sale, just in case it's worth a shitload), two to mod (you always need a backup in case of disaster), and one to keep stock, so you can shoot a side-by-side before and after.SuperFly wrote:The way a serious hoarder does it is to buy 3; one to keep new in the box and stash in the basement, untouched by human hands (don't even look at it!), one to take out of the box but kept in pristine original condition, and the third one to mod.Bart wrote:I don't think I will mod it unless I find another one but you can bet it will be out of the box!
