Tis okay, I don't actually own one myself - I use a few at my work when I'm developing for them. Here's one very similar, same make and model...noxorc wrote:sorry cabo, I now reread that you too have one. Which version do you have?

Dear Life Cereal, Where do you get off? Part of a balanced breakfast and delicious? Who do you think you are? By now you may have guessed I'm speaking ironically and have nothing but good things to say about what you do. Life cereal do not change a thing.

they make ppc apps for remote controls so i cant see why you couldnt use those apps to control one. there is also a company that sells a piece of hardware(im pretty sure its just an ir l.e.d. hooked up to a headphone plug) for added range. my audiovox maestro only gets about 8foot range for my tv.
I just bought an Nikko Iracer. 20 beans.
big remote controller. looks like a space weapon.
I've seen Namuna has one of these...As to why I bought it.
I remember some of his write ups and it faired ok.
The car is much smaller than a bit. and is it fast.
blows away an off the shelf bit. and would stand up well to a dual cell.

iRacer is cool, kind of like a watered down version of the Takara Digi-Q...But for $20 you can't beat it.
Hey hog, I didn't know you had a Maestro...me too. Mine gets used twice a day...On the train to work and home, to play Hearts/Spades. Other than that, it don't do much of shit cept take up space in my bag.
I don't know man, while the idea of Palm/PPC IR control is cool...The reality of it might not be so hot.
Why not do an IR Noxbox?

Alright, the brain juices are flowin now...
If you're able to 'hack' into the IR...Then perhaps even a step further with the Combat DigiQ Tanks.
I say a step further because they involve a 2-way communication between vehicle and remote (the remote registers 'hits' and number of available bullets and so forth).
Supposedly this coming September the Turret controllable tanks will hit the streets and having a 'Combat Noxbox' has some cool possibilities (like moving turret, pillboxes!)

well theres apps that have an ir "learning function" where you hit a button on the remote and it coordinates to a software button. so basic digiq control on a ppc would be simple but nox is a freak so adding a noxbox ir gig would make them do all kindsa crazy stuff. heres another possibility that im not 100% sure on the feasability but somehow tricking the headphone jack to send an rf signal via an antenna that would plugin to the phone jack(someone made ir software that transmits the ir signal via the headphone jack. i think its just an ir led soldered to the heaadphone plug in a fancy plastic shell) and porting the nox software over. that would be kinda swell.

yeah yeah, I know what all the PPC can do man. It's just that the Hearts/Spades games are pretty addictive (www.dq.com).
1 of my fav things is being able to watch Flash on it. I've got all the Mashimaro episodes, the Stick figure kung-fu stuff and I've even made a few Flash anims (like a little yummy Veronika Zemanova sequence!)

The learning remotes (I have a Pronto myself) are only 1-way though. An IR Noxbox that could take the functions of what the Tank Controller does and let's you modify to your liking would be cool.
There's talk on the Combat Forums about making pillboxes that shoot the same 'lasers' (like in a war diorama)...A modified tank with the noxbox has that possibility.
