Been looking into this as a side project (along with my other 500) over the last couple of months and I reakon it can be done. Has anyone seen this done before?

yea I've seen it before, too lazy to look right at the moment though lol
but did you ever see that "Disco Bit" video?
if not, do a search for it on these forums, that thing blew me away.

I think that discobit is great and all but I really friggen hate disco. I'ld rather have a kit car light setup.

True..True.. I know what ya mean, but, I personally think that red blip of light going back and forth in the grill is more menacing than a bunch of pulsating fruity colors, lol.
Ph2t if you ever get that shit done and can make it affordable for me, hook a brother up.

i made one that fits into the drivebay of my comp with bright blue led's. i used a chip that was as big as the bit's pcb and it needed another dual op-amp chip wiht it too so i dunno how u gonna fit all this into a bit

SMD, surface mount design.
Also you gotta find a circuit that uses minimal components, which I have.
Using a 555 timer and a cmos 4017 decade counter it can be done....

where do you get the 6v from?
how do I interpret the black arrow going in the middle of the 500k resistor?
