what would happen if you got rid of the transistors and just wired them together would the car be faster?

i think you would blow the board. too many amps runnin through.

You can't get rid of 'em. They are needed to give fwd and rev direction to the motor. Read my custom h-bridge thread, there is an explanation of what happens in there.
