IR cars

I have been thinking again about writing software on my iPAQ to control my bits.

But instead of the standard Bit-charg cars, I was wondering about the InfraRed Cars. Mainly because most handhelds have an IR port embedded. I don't think at this point it would take much to write and control.

My question is....what is a good IR car available ?

they sell niko iracers at toysrus for 20 i think. they are the same thing as digiqs.

they make ppc apps for remote controls so i cant see why you couldnt use those apps to control one. there is also a company that sells a piece of hardware(im pretty sure its just an ir l.e.d. hooked up to a headphone plug) for added range. my audiovox maestro only gets about 8foot range for my tv.

ok thanks....I'll for it at toysrus.

I have played with some IR apps for ppc. (as you have said, for the TV remote).

but I like to write apps...so .....need my own...

you should write a sampler/sequencer/synthesizer app that works well but is simple. you could make some $$ maybe.

you really use your handheld that much hog?
I'm still having trouble getting used to em, my shakey ass hands hit the entire screen rather than just an icon or symbol! lol

sorry cabo, it's hog that has the handheld.

although if you have the problem you describe...kept it to yourself.

Hog...what OS are you running. 2000 or 2002?

I can't believe how easy it is to hookup an IR port...

ppc2002 3rd revision

32megs of ram 206mhz processor.
192megs of storage cards. i use it mostly for a notepad and for videogames. i have this sequencer app called "phoenix studio" it is kinda like rebirth but the guy stopped development. its so great to make beats on my lunch break.

it also works well for paint programs. its easier to draw on a touch screen than with a mouse.

i suggest you all pick one up. a pocket pc that is. palms are overpriced and underpowered.

Oh, I should? Help me out.... buy me a new one!

Your setup is almost the same as mine....
ppc2002 rom 2.20

32megs of ram 206mhz processor.
500megs of storage cards (smartmedia, Iomega iClicks)

Had a PalmIIIc, sold it....just like you said.... sad product.
(had keyboard, camera, modem)

I would like a GPS for the iPaq... but money is allocated elsewhere.
